Best acquisitions of the year

Nollster

Recommended Posts

Completely overhauled my bag in 2019, but most of the changes were in true WRX club ho fashion.

3 months of lessons was the best acquisition I've made this year. I've never felt more confident in my swing or diagnosing my misses. Ball striking from 150-200yds is absurdly good relative to the other parts of my game

*but also a shiny new 2016 M2 Tour Issue driver - with the open face i have tons of confidence aiming down the left centre of the fairway*

Other than an almost completely new bag, I'd say my best buy this year was my Srixon irons.

I went from an off the rack set of Wilson D200 irons which were short for me so I was topping my way around the course. Got fitted, went 1/2" longer and into a stiff from a regular flex on how I load the shaft when I swing. The end result is a world of difference, I'm a much better iron striker now and a lot more distance too. As my swing improves it's just that much better, I hope my swing doesn't change too much to where these irons don't work for me as well.

The next one would be the G410+ driver, long story short I can actually drive a ball in play now.

I'm in the same situation as you. I now play stiff in my wedges and regular in the rest of my irons. The feel is so much better for me.

I purchased a lot of wedges this year. A full set of Stealth 2.0s, and also a Vokey K grind for when I play a course with nasty bunkers to hit out of. Lovely wedges, all of them.

Kind of a toss up. My Mizuno JPX-900 forged have been phenomenal!! But honestly, getting a shaft for my 3 wood that is 1/2" shorter has been more of a game changer to be honest. I can finally give it a rip on par 5's and actually hit my 3 wood consistently. Haven't had confidence in a 3 wood for years.

Driver: Ventus 60 Stiff

Fairway: Tensi Pro White 70 Stiff

Hybrid: Diamana Blue 70 Stiff

I have tried regular flex shafts in my woods and the results were terrible.

Def has been lessons.

As far as a product is concerned it has nothing to do with golf but with recovery. I picked up a hypervolt percussion massager. Really helps with soreness after the round and also helps loosen up before the round. I have struggled with tight IT bands which throws everything out of alignment for me. Probably the best purchase i have made not just for golf this year but in 2019.

I used to play an M3 with an original Speeder Evo 661x in it. Basically the same set up I have now, M5 w/Speeder Evo "V" 661x. I play the weights in the back split (one on draw and one on fade).

Both are amazing but I give the edge to the M5 for reasons of feel (Big feel guy regarding head weight, impact & sound) and dispersion. The M5 for me is a fairway finder at 280+ yards consistently. The driver slot is finally secured in my bag for the foreseeable future.

I was curious because I feel like I might bee losing some consistency playing stiff in my irons.

I play stiff in everything else and every time I've tried Regular in the longer clubs, it's been terrible, with one exception: I'm alternating a 5.5 and 6.0 HZRDUS Yellow 76 in my driver. The 5.5 feels better, but I'm a bit longer and straighter with the stiffer 6.0, Both same weight, but heavier than my previous driver shafts that were 62-66gm.

Got a Cobra F8+ 3 wood with a 75 gram shaft. That got me thinking and I went and found a heavier slightly softer low torque shaft for my driver. I have gained consistency and am a bit longer since it went in.
