Since I brought the bag in to get it ready for my trip; I figured I'd snap off some photos before everything gets stuffed into the travel case. Also, I'd like to predicate this by noting I am, in fact, the world's worst photographer.

 

So, here's the setup. That's a Vessel Player 1.0 bag - which is outstanding. And the Rottie headcover is a tribute to my beloved old man I lost a couple years ago and my current ladies.


 

Starting at the top - TS3 9.5° driver dialed down 0.75°, Tensei Blue 60 S


 

TS2 5W (18°) AND 7W (21°) also dialed down 0.75° ... also Tensei Blue 60 S


 

PXG Gen1 0311T. 4-PW. 1° flat, Nippon Modus Tour105 S in all them. First time I'd ever had irons fitting done!


 

I've got many wedges I've bought over the years but for the trip, I'm taking my current favorites, Nike VR X3X 52°, Callaway PM Grind '19 56° and Vokey SM6 K Grind 60°:


 

And finally, my trusty old Scotty Newport 2; which I've had for about 10 years or so


 

And, of course, as a former Las Vegan - Lena Las Vegas was a necessity


 

Really, all I change up too frequently are my wedges. I've got some Mizunos, a few more Nikes, a few more Vokeys, a Cleveland or two ... probably the ONE constant is the Vokey 60° though depending, I'll swap it out for the Nike Tiger 60°.

So far, so good! I actually just picked it up a couple months ago as my old Nike bag was showing its 15 years. I was really wanting a simple bag with minimal branding and was having a hell of time finding one and a buddy recommended Vessel ... which I hadn't heard of at the time. I went with the 1.0 instead of the 2.0 as it looked to be a little on the smaller side. I don't carry all that much stuff and I'm kind of OCD about empty pockets or, like, a big pocket with ONE thing in it haha.

 

I really love the synthetic leather material and the little subtle details, like the ball-marking template on the towel hook, the little pocket for a Sharpie and the magnetic closure pocket for my rangefinder. I'm a software engineer with a focus on user interface so little details like that always delight me.

 

The higher lofted woods is kinda funny. Long story short, thanks to my buddy - a big hitting Irishman - who always dragged me to the tips when I was getting my game back in shape after a long, long layoff ... I needed some more distance clubs and was having a hell of a time with hybrids - so a whimsical purchase of a 5W lead to ditching my 3W and 3-iron for the 5W and 7W.

Beautiful set. A guy a play with was using Callaway or Nike irons his whole life but got fitted for PXG’s and it changed his game completely. Might have to join the club sometime soon.

There's certainly something different about them that separates them from every set of irons I've ever played. I was previously playing Callaway Apex MBs and, honestly, wanted a little more kindness. The 0311Ts are really the best of both worlds.

I switched from Tensei Blue S to HZRDUS XS when moving to the TS4 so I can't say if it's purely the shaft change or what but my driving has been awesome ever since the switch. Longer and much better control - like, whereas the biggest hitter in my group was generally always 20yds in front of me; now I'm keeping up with him for the most part.

 

This could also be due to generally better swing mechanics.

 

Nah, definitely not that. ;)

 

I do like the slightly smaller head as an old guy who started with persimmons but overall, I probably could have stayed with the TS3 and been just as happy.

I mostly only use them to warm up. I'd started the training routines or whatever initially but admittedly got a bit lazy with it. Might try to start it again sooner or later as I've gotten a lot more structured in my practice over the last couple months.
