G410 Irons

One thing I learned about lie angle many years ago from a professional, someone who takes a very shallow divot or no divot at all will hardly notice a lie angle issue, but somebody that actually goes down after the ball, that toe or heal going in with the lie angle being off, it does make a difference and I’ve never been able to take that small blade of grass divot, mine usually weigh about a pound LOL. Too flat I slice, too upright I hook it off the planet and I’ve proven that with my driver by changing from a standard to an upright position, I could not hit the ball to the right at all. After today once I get everything adjusted and if I get a chance to go out and play tonight I’ll let you know how things went I think I’m gonna pull those sensors off my grip to because I think those are causing me to grip the club a little higher than I like.

Went out played 9 today 106 heat index, hit most of the irons, 4,5,6,8,9,U and SW(54°) love the feel, straight, dialed in my distance pretty good today. You can work them pretty much either way. They seem to hold greens well, tomorrow need to do some range time to work on my ball position. I had one hole, slight down hill lie, 150 over a lake, was only the hole (8 iron) gave me fat contact issues. 1 1/2 hours for 9, shot 38, drive OB once ruin great 9. Screen shots below don’t represent actual ball flight curve.enzslbzuvpzi.jpeg

Accra is the truth. Other than Yonex, they're the best selling shafts in the store.

I've had these for about 3 months now and while they are forgiving and all. The sound is really starting to turn me off. A very loud clack even on solidly struck shots.

I'm not sure how much longer I can deal with that. Probably not past when the T200 and T300 are released.

What kind of a ball are you playing? I honestly don't hear much of anything playing a Snell MTB.

IMO, that's your problem with the sound. I tried the Snell MTB-X and ProV1X and almost put the 410's up for sale. Ball choice makes all the difference in the world with these irons. I'm playing so well with them now I wouldn't care it it sounded like I was hitting a garbage can, they ain't going nowhere.

Well if that is the case. I'll sell the irons before I change balls. I've never had this sound with any club, and I've played AP1, AP2, Srixon 585, P790 all with the VX.

I'm kinda in the opposite camp than you. I feel I can find an iron that will play just as well, bit there's not a better ball than the ProV and I use it alot more with wedges and putter than with the irons as I only have 7-P in irons.

Totally understand. I'd probably feel the same if my handicap hadn't dropped 3 points in 2 months.

I have WAY too many putters, PING, Slighter and Mannkrafted. They all take a turn on occasion, but the Craz-E is "crazy" good! :) I can't part with it. And you also never know when a putter might misbehave!

I got the 410’s I just find any soft ball, Vice tour, E12 soft, Callaway super soft, but want to try a quieter club, I just fitted for Mizuno 919 Tour, very muted, and playable. Moved to 410’s as a 8 hdcp, played twice now. What makes a very low handicaper play solid all the time is a repeatable swing/ball striking ability, thus my case, 8 hdcp, -5 on front yesterday +6 on back, best round ever still. Misses a little right, get adjusted today a bit upright. Can’t wait to compare the mizuno irons, distance wise, Ping will win.

I'd change the ball before the irons personally. The ball is the easiest thing to change and the cheapest. :)

New poster here so forgive me if I am in the wrong place to post this- I was fit for some G410's on Saturday. (Great fitting until afterwards when he gave me a price and told me I owed more a few days later. I didn't have to pay for the fitting but there was a 25% markup on the clubs, but I digress.) He told me he would order them on Monday with the anticipation that they would be here in a few weeks. After the pricing mess, I had him change a few things around (1 hybrid instead of 2). I am hoping it didn't put a kink in me getting the clubs next week. How long did it take for you guys to get the clubs if they were shipped to your house. Also, what carrier did they use? I am signed up for auto-tracking with FedEx and will get the notifications, but when I asked my fitter if I would get updates from him he told me no and apparently Ping wont tell you either.

He charged you more than the $125 a iron?

Mine took 10 days. The guy who ordered them can get you ship dates. I'm not sure your fitter knows what is going on

Yes. But I didn't realize it until afterwards when he called and said he needed more because I guess I was too excited to think. Then when I got home and started breaking it down, I though wow he over charged me. I asked him for a breakdown and it was about 20% over what I had calculated I should have been. I am frustrated, but the order has been placed so I didn't figure there was anything I could do. The thing that sucks for him is I had 3 other guys lined up to use him too, but called them and told them to cancel.

Honestly, I would have cancelled the order instantly if anyone pulled that sort of crap on me.

You can buy Ping clubs, whether stock or custom order, for almost exactly the same price everywhere in the country. Ping have always gone to great lengths to make sure nobody gets away with undercutting their set price. There's just literally no reason to let someone gouge you on Ping clubs, the manufacturer assures an ample margin to the dealer at the set price.

I get it. The problem is the way I paid (I used a big sum on a giftcard that I had won in a weighloss challenge). I didn't know how in the world to ask for it back. If it had been all on a credit card, I would have. Also, I I didn't get my fitting numbers. I didn't know what to tell whoever I ordered it from, what to get. I lived about 3.5 hours away from this place, so they had me and they knew it... I did just didn't realize it until I got home.

Both North Butte and Lawsonman are correct. If he charged you over the retail price, there's no other way to say it than he took advantage of you. Also he can tell you the tracking info. We are a PING account and I have access to every order in our system, tracking number included---they do ship Fed Ex Ground---so you should get your notification if they are coming directly to you as well. Which is also a bit odd, we haven't had any requests for it so I haven't asked, but I would think PING would only ship to the account, not drop ship directly to the consumer. But again I could be wrong on that.

There just seems to be a lot off in this situation

In the end, I hope you like the clubs and are very happy with them, despite my above comments about the sound, they are fantastic looking clubs and they do perform, there's no arguing that.

I'm playing so well with them now I wouldn't care it it sounded like I was hitting a garbage can, they ain't going nowhere.

I get that, and of course it's the most logical and economical. But since when have we operated on those two principals around here...ha

But seriously, I love the ProVX and there are some that are ALMOST as good, the Z Star and B'stone X in my mind.

I'll try a regular ProV with them tonight and see if there is any difference.

Don’t let this ruin your experience and enjoining your new clubs. They are amazingly good and deserve any penny, especially if given by gift card.

I agree. Our local golf store finally bit the bullet and got a launch monitor that worked for us lefties. Nothing beats a good fitter and numbers you can see.

Now I will go with a blasphemy here in WRX forum and probably will be banned forever and ever.

I don't trust fitting, at my handicap level at least. One day I'm on and hit mostly good, another one I'm off and hit not that good.

Swingweight, shaft and so on are hardware and I am convinced that we can adapt to everything. SW, shaft, etc. are only excuses where people hides behind a bad moment/bad swing or too lazy/impatient to spend time and adapt to the new hardware.

Things change if you have a very repeatable swing, but in the sense that you will maximise the hardware in order to perform near the maximum with your software (swing abilities and swing speed)

I agree we can adapt to equipment that doesn't fit us but a good fitter can make a world of difference in your play. I'm living proof.

I need to finally get over to your place to play with you before you get rid of these beauties.

Congrats again on the ace. I am still pitching a shutout (45 years!)
