Do you look like a golfer - off the course?

Recommended Posts

I have worn dress slacks, buttondown collar dress shirt, suit coat or dressy sport coat to work for as long as I can remember...right up until 1 month ago. We have voluntary retirement going on right now and the day I decided to take it was the last day I wore a dress shirt or coat to work. Came in the next day in dress slacks and golf polo shirt. Been that way since. Got 28 more days and I will call my 41years, 11 months, and 22 days with this company as OVER!!!

On weekends, I normally just wear same shorts I would wear to play golf with a golf shirt unless I am outside in the pool.

DUDE, the topless guy in cut off jeans you saw I think was JonesScott.

Was he looking you in the eyes from P1 to P10 while driving the ball 320 with a 3w?

Do you not sweat or live and play in a humid climate??

Fortunately I don't sweat to bad, very rarely do i shower twice in one day

on the humidity question I'm in NY so it can get humid in the summer

if it's real nasty I'll do the two showers in one day or if I'm going out to socialize I'll do

the two showers , no way I'm going out stinking lol .

I don't look like a golfer even on the course, let alone off of it.

My wife gives me 10 kinds of hell about my sock tan line. I have a very dark complexion and tan very easily (never really burn), but my golfers tan is on point, lol. My feet are white like a sheet.

95% of the time...Yes. I work in the golf business so I’m pretty much always wearing golf clothes. I will occasionally wear a suit and tie to church or even jeans sometimes, but most of the time it looks like I have a 12:30 tee time.

Most of my t-shirts have Nike Golf on them, so there’s really no escaping it.

Being retired has its benefits. One is I don't have to dress for anyone other than myself, and often I look like a drunk being released from the tank on a Sunday morning. T-shirts and jeans or cargo shorts make up most of my rota, although I do have the fancy high dollar pocket tees so I got that going for me. My wife has complained more than once that I dress nicer for golf than I do when we go out.

When I get out of the shower, I look like a golfer. Suntanned face and neck, suntanned arms and legs, with the rest of me (including feet) so white, you'd need sunglasses to look at me.

The golfer's tan is just exactly the same tan that any other individual who works outside in summer (or winter for that matter) might have, save for the short tan lines as I almost always wore long pants on the job.

As far as the wardrobe is concerned, because I work at a course I have to wear the corporate attire, so that has become pretty much the limit of my allocation to golf specific style. I'll be darned if I don't want to look like a wannabe golf pro the rest of the time. It's helpful that most outdoor clothing companies use performance fabrics now so the benefits of golf specific apparel is now avialable in other forms of casual clothing. For example, I'm a big fan of Eddie Bauer's First Ascent line, so you'll often find me in cargo shorts, tees, straw hat and flip flops off the course looking like I'm about ready to pull up to a tiki bar.

My problem is LOFT -- Lack of friggin' talent

i'd say more so in the summer when I'd be less likely to be wearing jeans. most of my shorts are either golf shorts or those new gym/casual shorts that you can wear anywhere. most of my t-shirts are golf related (us open, pga, masters, malbon, mannkrafted, scotty cameron, fade golf). heck even have a titleist aussie hat that i wear on the course and at the beach

Yea im' a dead giveaway that i'm a golfer. when i'm in casual clothes its usually jeans, tee and some sort of either an unstructured titleist, pinehurst, masters, etc type hat. unless we're going to dinner and i'm wearing a button down or something.

work is easy since i'm not management -- can wear a polo/slacks most days. besides - everyone at work knows i golf...just gotta look in my cube lol

I’m a diesel mechanic... I look homeless most days. Invited some work friends from our front office out to golf and over for smothered pork chops one Saturday and they were surprised to find that I actually clean up well and have a nice home and a nice vehicle. They’re used to me wearing oil stained clothes and driving my 2003 4Runner to work.
