Who likes the 19th hole?

I'm for the most part retired and play with guys that still have full time jobs. For me, golf is what I'm doing that day. Mostly I would prefer to kick back after a game, have a cocktail and shoot the breeze about how the round went. My golfing buddies like to arrive at the course just before tee time, play a round and race back to their vehicles so they can rush home with barely enough time to ask if we are playing next week.

What type of golfer are you? The guy with free time or the guy that gets just enough time to squeeze in a round. Maybe I need some new golf buddies. At least new buddies as long it is not scrambles. Really dislike scrambles but that is another topic.

I have always been the type of person if I am doing something I allow the time to do it so that I don't feel rushed. If I had to squeeze in a round of golf I'd rather not do it.

Not everyone is going to have the same idea of what a round of golf is. Showing up right before tee time and leaving right after to me is golf for most people. I never looked at that as being rushed though.

When I play with my coworkers most of us show up right before tee time. There are some that need that range time before the round and get there early. When we finish our round we all go our separate ways.

When I play in my regular group of friends we meet and all ride together to the course. We usually travel at least 30 min. to play because we like to play all over. When we are done our round we stop somewhere and have lunch/dinner. It is known to all in the group we are eating after so if someone can't do that we either get another friend to go or the person that can't eat drives themself. These people are my friends. We do alot outside of golf together.

Im geussing what you have are some people that you play golf with. Maybe they don't care to socialise with you outside of the course or maybe they are rushed to get their round in.

I dig having a beer and a snack in the clubhouse after the round. As mentioned in another thread, I'm a guy that struggled with booze problems over the years - but I didn't want to give it up entirely; I just wanted to drink "like a normal person." So keeping it for occasions (beer after a round, glass of wine at a nice dinner, cocktail before a flight, etc) and **most** importantly not at home helps immensely with that.

I used to drink during and after a round abiet when I was much younger. Do not do either any more. If someone else is driving then I will have some manly cocktails.

if i don’t get a bite to eat and a beer after a after round my wife usually ends up not cooking, if i have a decent burger w/ fries etc. it’s the night she made steak on the grill ! can’t seem to get that right.

if someone mentions a beer after the round i’m usually down, but i’m not going to go sit down pound a beer for 5 minutes and leave, if i go in for a beer i’m getting something to eat as well, i do love food.

oh and i usually try to arrive 30 minutes early.

I'm single so I've got all the time in the world, I quite often will play around on the practice green/short game area after playing. And if there's a bar\restaurant I like to have a drink and some conversation. Unfortunately the guys I play with have very young kids so there time is much more constrained than mine so quite often some parking lot chat and a quick toke is what we end up doing.

Absolutely, it is understood. My golf buddies have other obligations. I generally do not. This is more about whether you (as in other golfers) like to kick back after a round or not. From what I see at the course, some people do and some don't.

I may indulge on the course here and there, usually head home after a round because of other obligations as well, lol.

To answer your question directly. NO I do not like to kick back after my round in the club house. I have plenty of time to do it when finished but it is not my thing. And the last thing I would want to do if I did stay would be to talk about our rounds. I played mine and saw the others in the group play their round. I don't feel the need to talk about it because I lived it. From my experience talking about the round afterwards usually ends up being a lot of what could have been, should have been etc.

We play as group of 12 and are members of a private club. EVERYONE comes in for one drink after the round, most stay for 2 and some stay for 5. :)

I enjoy a post golf hang out more than golf somedays.

PS. no one talks about their round. We do skins and then talk all sorts of cra9 about all sorts of cra9.

I'm trying to understand how anyone could play this game and not drink. I've always thought it was mandatory.

Definitely a "go in for a drink" guy, and we never talk about the round unless we are busting someone's balls over a really bad shot. I play with my wife frequently, which also contributes. It's also a semi private course so we know most of the people in the clubhouse. Doesn't hurt that we only live a mile away. If we have too many, it's a cheap Uber home.

If I’m on vacation or a golf trip I will absolutely hang out for a few pints in the clubhouse. During my normal weekday match, it’s a no. Too many other things to do in the day and we are usually done by 1030-11am and apparently beers at the time of the day are frowned upon.

I strongly prefer to kick back after a game, have a cocktail and shoot the breeze about how the round went. Thankfully my golf buddies are a group of 20+ players many of whom feel the same way. There are others that may not drink but they generally come in and at least shoot the breeze for a bit afterwards.

I have a few drinks on the course, but the course I play most doesn’t have anywhere to get a drink. It is a county course that is BYOB.

The group I used to play a regular Saturday game with always sits around and has a few after the round. I don’t play with them much anymore, but did this pst Saturday. I sat down and had a drink before heading home. We never talk about the round other than to dish out cash once we go through the cards.

Used to stay after league and play cards back in the day, quit that a long time ago and nobody does it any more. Occasionally will stay after league now for a bit.

Weekends and non-league rounds we are all usually headed straight to the vehicles to get on with things that need done at home, lol. We spend enough time out there without pushing limits!

I have a standing Sunday match with my Dad against another father and son. They drink like fish (beer a hole), and we just drink water. Not because we hate booze (hardly). We just don't like how it affects our games.

We usually win, but not by much. Ironically, our stakes is a beer after the round.

That said, a frosty beer after a round on a hot day is a sublime experience.

It's really the only time I enjoy a beer! Not much of a beer drinker but do like bourbon and scotch.
