best round ever...almost

played a new to me course for the second time that is definitely going to be top of the rotation (Bowling green 73.2/134) hit almost all but 3fairways, all but 5 greens in regulation. (landed safely on all par 3s!)

i made par on only 4 holes , 2 of which were a up and down. i could not 2 putt if my damn life depended on it ,never putted so horribly made 43 putts this afternoon to totally kill what would have been my best score ever(once grinded out a 77) i felt like i was making great strokes just kept left edging it all afternoon i haven’t putted this horrible since i started golfing in june of 2016.

i somehow didn’t have any golf balls in my bag when i arrived at the first tee and a group was ready to go behind us( my daughter took however many i had in there maybe 6-9 and put them in mommy’s bag earlier in the day ) used a bridgestone e6 don’t know the year but i wanna blame it so bad on that ball but i can not justify it because everything else was great, just fantastic.

anyone else have the possibility to shoot a great score and just have your putting absolutely wreck you? i can not wait to get out friday with my regular ball and see what the game will bring me. when my buddy added up the scores at the end and the putts i felt like i just threw the best round of my life away! gonna take a few beers to ease the pain for sure.

Its always one thing or the other. My typical hole is hitting a great drive, down the middle. Hitting a bad second shot and miss the green left, right, long or short. Hit a bad or decent chip and make a 10 foot putt for par. Then I have a few holes where I hit a bad drive, hit a tremendous second shot out of trouble on to the green, then 3 putt for bogey. The days are rare that I'm able to put it all together.

I've had rounds where my game was terrible, but my putting was the only thing saving me from tossing my clubs into the water. Happened to me last weekend. Feel free to blame the ball. You have every right! lol

I've putted great & not made a thing and conversely putted terrible. Again it is just a game and striking the ball well means so much more to me then putting lights out. I couldn't imagine duffing the ball the around a course but then having 25 putts (or similar). Heck 13 GIR's is great. And you were burning the edges.

Yesterday I played lightning fast greens and the first 7 holes was a putting wreck. Righted the ship on the back and had 6 pars (and a stupid double).

Not sure how you can blame the ball.

i would love to blame the ball! ha i’m going to try to get out to the same course friday afternoon, after work. hopefully i can get some to get down in two, although i wanna be greedy and get some down in one. the absolutely worst part was i wasn’t more than about 15 feet for the start of most of these putts, i probably had the best ball striking day ever. i was just left edge almost every time i missed not one put to the right of the hole, some short yes but majority were left and past from 3 feet plus and after that short putt was hit it more then likely missed left! . hope hitting my normal ball calms my speed down or just makes me feel confident over the putt. the little line on that e6soft ball isn’t great for lining putts up if ya ask me. ended up trying to use the B logo more.

played the the same course today. couldn’t find the fairway, but my putting was better switched to my first putter i ever had. made 32 putts with 4 3 putts and 2 pitch ins one from 10 feet off the green and another 15 feet in, and holed out on a par 4 after a horrible second shot about 125 yards. that felt great with 2 pars to follow one on a par 5 saved par with a 15 footer after scrambling from damn near OB then a short par 4 barely made it to the green for a back pin and 2 putted. felt good today in the fairway once i got there just struggled off the tee. putting was a plus. this odyssey is probably half the weight of the t.p. mills i have been gaming for the whole season but it’s working for me now and i’m making good strokes.

edit- shot 10 shots lower this tome (for a 84) around and hit maybe 5 fairways. putting helped a lot today. i will break 80 at this course before the season comes to a end just gotta be finding fairways and putting decent that day. took my 3 wood and hybrid out of the bag so that i have to either hit driver or 5 iron. not having to fall back on the 3 wood has been helping me find confidence over the ball with drier. i mean it’s only a game right? might as well go for it! lost 3 balls o/b one on a par 3 short to water swing to hard nailed the ground and barely the ball. flew the green on a par 5 and just couldn’t find it. one o-b off the tee on wide open par 4, i tried to aim over the trees to cut off the hole and have a short 30 yard pitch in or so once it creates the trees it faded left into deer territory took a better line off the tee and made bogey!
