Thinking of moving to Nippon pro modus3 120TX

I've been playing KBS tour 130 x hard stepped in my irons for past few years but been interested in trying the pro modus 3's. Would the 120TX be a very close comparison? I've been doing a lot of research but hard to find comparisons when you're hardstepping shafts.

120TX is firm but not boardy IMO. KBS Tour has more kick in the downswing while 120TX will have a DG-esque Snap/Thump at the beginning of the transition down....depending on how severe you yank down on the handle.

 

Id expect lower flight and spin from 120TX but it can vary depending on how the golfer responds to the feel. IMO though 120TX is much firmer and more familiar feeling to X players than say120S would be to Stiff players.

Still curious how all the Modus 3 play as well...just switched over to Modus 120x from C-Taper Stiff+. Much “softer” feeling, higher ball flight and picked up distance. Impressed with what a “big” difference there is between these two shafts and glad I decided to experiment and try something different.

 

I’ve demo’ed the Modus 125x, ball flight is lower than the 120x and shorter. Still curious how the 130x would play as well as the 120TX compared to the 120x.

Same boat with the 120x Modus. Been a PX 6.0 player or a X100 soft stepped player and the 120x plays softer than both in my hands. Love the feel and great control. Launches a bit low, spins up a bit and works well.

During my fitting today, the two shafts I had best results with were C Taper X and Modus 120 X. Fitter did not have a TX in the Modus so was not able to test. Just wanted to see if anyone else had experience with these three shafts? My numbers were fairly similar between both shafts, with C Taper launching a little lower/carrying farther but Modus feeling better. Wanted to see if TX in Modus might help bring down launch some. 6 iron numbers ~185 carry, 18 degree launch, 5k spin.

I shafted up some Epon AF302 with Modus 120X and 120TX the other day, and stuck a Modus 125X in my Miura CB1008 for comparison (have been playing KBS Tour in those heads).

I found the 120X felt nice but launched high and spun a lot. Higher and spinnier than the KBS Tour S.

The 125X I find to be quite smooth. The flex and balance is well distributed along the shaft. It's sort of similar to X100 but without so much of a kick, and much kinder to hand/elbow joints.

The 120TX is interesting. It feels firmer than the 120X for sure, launched similar to the 125X for me but I found dispersion was worse and sometimes it wanted to go left (my typical miss) and was difficult to hit a cut with. It felt a little harsh on some shots though it may have been my striking with that shaft was a little low on the face. When you load it properly the kick is pretty awesome. I'd kind of like to play it for a while and see how it goes.

Oh and I have never liked the C-taper on the few occasions I tried it. It's a very dead feeling shaft. It's quite similar to Project X if you've used that at all. The launch for that is probably a bit lower than the modus 125 and spin also less, with harsher feel.

everyone tells me the 120x modus are NFG.

I'm a big fan of the 130x modus, awesome !!
