His playing partners were quoted as saying... he would tap it around on the tee box a few times then would smoke a 250 yard 2 iron right down the middle of the fairway...

yep ...

_“He would chip shots and scoot his ball around on the tee box just to add strokes, and then he would just pipe a 2-iron down the middle of the fairway, hit it on the green and then just scoot his ball around again with his putter. He’d be right next to the hole and then I guess he’d think to himself that he didn’t have enough strokes and he’d hit his ball in the opposite direction of the hole.”_

blast his name all over the tours so he doesn't get any more gigs ...

I’m surprised they didn’t pull this guy off the course also, but pace of play wouldn’t have been the reason. The article states they caught up to the wave that went off the first tee and were waiting on them, which speaks poorly for the pace of play for the entire field.......

Though, I guess with the way the rules are written, he was taking shots within the time window, even if they were to deliberately miss the hole, he wouldn't have been penalized...

If I were Matt Every, I’d dump him. Guy doesn’t belong around the professional game in any capacity.

I'm guessing he will. I'm also guessing that as off as this dude seems to be, he wasn't exactly thinking about the long term implications to his caddy-ing career of doing this.

It sounds like what he was doing was while they were waiting to hit their shots he would whack the ball around, so he was racking up strokes without affecting pace of play because he couldn't hit anyway. Then, when it was his turn to actually hit, he would hit a good shot and repeat the process.

Even so, I agree that he probably should have been pulled off the course at some point.

Yep, I've now read more than just the first story. It sounds like the guy was just trying to make a name for himself, not really holding up play, and doing it just to have his name out there. Now, when everybody knows you pull this kind of thing, I have to assume it doesn't get you the result you were hoping for.

Be interesting to see what Every does with this.

Funny, I don't think so. It takes a pretty disturbed person to do this and keep it up for 4 or 5 hours. Even if someone thought it would be a funny thing to do, after 3 or 4 holes of it any normal person would wake up, realize what they were doing was stupid, and walk in. Funny? Hardly. Pathetic? Definitely. The guy needs to get some help before one of his funny ideas hurts someone.

Horrible person though. Wouldn't mind seeing him on CPGs bag.

Makes you wonder how pace of play was that slow. So slow that a guy shooting 202 is pushing the group ahead of him. Wow

Do you play tourney golf? Do you think anyone would find any humor in some idiot purposely jacking up his score while you're trying your best to play golf? It's just stupid. I have no idea how anyone could think it was funny. I'm not even clear what you find funny exactly? If you mean, that someone could be this much of a fool, I agree.

What I found funny was this: This guy was obviously having a bad day, and he decided "If I'm going to suck, I'm going to really suck and make a spectacle out of myself and my poor play. i.e. go out with a bang of humiliation". It is a little like laughing at the idiots who appear on Jerry Springer.

Stupid and attention-grabbing? Of course.

If careers were hurt, people died, and children were orphaned because of it, then that aspect is not funny.
