Anyone hear anything about these being updated?? They seem to be getting long in the tooth. Bstone seems to be losing steam as a brand.

I think theyre on a 2-year cycle? Other brands like Tm and titleist IMO update their balls too much....and to no effect.

Bstone just updated their line with the E12 and restructured the lady balls into the E6, so I can only assume that the high end balls will get a refresh soon if nothing but new box and branding like TM did with the TP5 series.

TaylorMade and Titleist are on the same two year cycle. Do some research before you spread false information.

I didnt say other companies WERENT on a 2-year cycle, I just said they update their balls too much. 2 year cycle is also too much.

Ah gotcha. So you think there isn't much change in golf ball performance every two years? Do you think the same when it comes to clubs? Just curious.

Correct, I do not think 1-2 years is a viable golf technology shift cycle. IMO 4 years is about the sweet spot to see a real non-placebo change in equipment for a non-professional player.

There's really not much of a reason to update the balls (one of the big reasons DTC balls are becoming so much of a thing). The modern balls already have about as good of spin separation from Driver, Iron, and Wedge that you could ask for. Dimple patterns are pretty much optimized for wind and flight. Ball speed is at the legal limits. There are guys on tour who are playing a ball from a generation or two back because the numbers they get from it suit their game better. Any changes to the ball are going to be incremental at best.

The best thing a company could do is probably change from having 2 balls in the lineup to having 4 or more. With characteristics that actually separate them and make them good for different players. Bridgeston is the closest, but as long as they are marketing their BXR balls for slow swing speeds, they aren't really doing it.

I don't disagree from a practical and playing stand point. I am more curious from a market and image stand point.

I don't think the bolded is evidence of "minimal improvements" to the equipment. There are pros in every sport who once they find something that works for them will absolutely refuse to move to newer gear. Hockey is littered with guys who stick with skate/stick/protective equipment that in some cases could be upwards of 15 years behind the latest and greatest. Is it because the older stuff is better? No. Is it because they are comfortable and happy with their performance using the older stuff? Yes.

I want the new balls just so I can stock up on the old balls. I have never hit a better golf ball than the current Tour BX, but I also refuse to pay $45 for a dozen so hitting V1x until I go deal hunting.
