To all the Cubs fans who were either panicking or jumping off the band wagon, having faith was worth it. Personally I feel a real fan wouldn't jump on/off the band wagon. To those fans root for some other team as a real Cubs fan has known more failure than success but we still remain loyal no matter what. To those who lost faith start trusting in the team and management. They've been pretty good for the past four years and have the foundation to go a long way into October as the team is made up now. The Cubs are still not firing on all cylinders but are playing very, very well as a collective. I've been a fan for 46 years and remember some awful teams but I never lost my faith.

The Cubs really need to consider either trading Carl Edwards Jr. or just cut him. He just plain sucks and he's a liability. He makes me cringe more than Lee Smith used to make me cringe.

So sad to hear that Bill Buckner passed away yesterday. He was my favorite player in the 70s when I was growing up in Chicagoland (northwest suburbs). He remains one of my all time favorite players today. God rest his soul.

Right. Bill Buckner should be remembered for being one of the best contact hitters of his generation, and among the best all time. In 22 seasons he never had a game where he struck out 3 times. He had 2,715 hits, struck out only 453 times, won a batting championship, twice lead the league in doubles, played in 2 World Series. He accomplished much after a severe ankle injury early in his career (1976). He was an outstanding left fielder and first baseman. He definitely played with grit and determination. I suppose this is why during my youth I came to idolize Billy Buck and emulated my play with his style. I am hopeful that one day the Veteran's Committee of the MLB HOF will recognize that Bill Buckner rightfully and deservedly belongs in the MLB HOF and will posthumously bestow that honor to him.

Watching my tribe is painful! A lot of buzz around here (ATL) with the signing of Keuchel. Most wanted Kimbrel but it doesn't matter when your starters give up 4-5 runs in the first few innings.

The next few weeks will be interesting in the NL Central. The Cubs open a 3 game set against the Brewers tomorrow and play three more at Wrigley Field next week. The Cardinals have been playing pretty good baseball. I think it is a 3 team race from this point forward but the Reds are lurking.

 

As for the Giants, yes, their hot streak all but put the brakes on the selling. I think this weekend against the Padres will ultimately determine their fate whether they sell off or not. I just don't see them sustaining a viable playoff run so if it were me (as the GM) I would look to get as much back for some of the desired players they have as I could. MadBum, Smith, Pomeranz, and maybe Samardzija are the the names being thrown around. Time will tell.

Patriots beat the Jets butt last night. Unfortunately is wasn't more like four 5-3 games.

Anyone still watching baseball lol? There are 4 playoff games on today.

 

Hoping Braves can clinch today. The cardinals are always a tough match. Have had 3 great games so far.

 

Dodgers look like they will overmatch the Nats but man the Nats can catch fire and have pitching.

 

The Astros look amazing all the way around.

 

The Yankees look solid as well. Do they have enough pitching to carry them deeper in these playoffs.

 

I’m rooting for a Braves vs. Yankees World Series. I keep up with both of those teams and think they would match up in a close series. I think the Astros and the Dodgers are the favorites as of right now.

 

As I’m typing this I just checked scores and the Rays are beating the Stro’s 5-1. I don’t think it changes that series outcome but would be fun for it to be close.

Loved yesterday's games. Yanks closed it out and the NL games were a ton of fun.

 

I'd be ecstatic with a Yankees vs. Braves WS, it would give me a good excuse to get down to Atlanta for one of the games.
