How did they sound compared to a solid forged mizuno? Also how was the blade length compared to a mp 18?

Maybe I missed it, I know they're coming out in September but when is the pre-order date? Or does Mizuno not do pre-orders?

I have received a few sets prior to retail date, but that is pushing it, not likely.

For as big as the sole is on the long irons they have a very nice topline. I could see putting the 3,4,5 in the bag and cavity’s up from there. I spoke to a Mizuno rep today and of course he’s biased but he said as far as feel these change the game. He admitted they may not beat other manufacturers for distance but feel and workability will be unmatched. He also said when they put them on the robot and hit 1000 shots with them that the copper patina starts to wear through and it looks cool . He thinks as they get broke in they will start looking better and better. That’s if you’re into that look.

@Lenny2 Yup the sole concerns me a bit, but I managed just fine with the H4/H5 off the turf. The lines look good and low offset seems identical to fli-hi. Its actually a very natural progression from H4-H5-Fli Hi-HMB > the headshape getting to this point is nothing new. Also all those clubheads prior flat out performed and provide very consistent flight/distance in their category. I think the HMB will no doubt continue the trend.

I believe it becomes the go to long iron replacement from Mizzy, but I don't forecast much interest in full sets. Also, wouldn't underestimate distance in clubs with this tech especially with a saucy graphite pairing. Always told not to expect the most distance from the UDI or Mizuno utility irons and made my longest setups with both. Excited to test the 3-iron.

They shouldn't be, the MP5 is most likely going to be more forgiving and have more mass to it. These look like they are a cross between MP4 and 69s. Sure are pretty though...

Wider sole, longer blade length, more offset, thicker top lines, stronger lofts. If they are less forgiving than the MP5s I will eat my hat and then I will eat your hat!

I'm guessing the OP was referring to the MB not the HMB that this thread is about.

Anyone hit these yet or see any reviews online? Really curious about the feel with majority of them being hollow.

Per Mizuno

Thin topline, compact body; check and check. The construction creates a wider sole, but that makes perfect sense given that the primary point of differentiation between the HMB and the MMC is ball flight. I should also mention that Mizuno aggressively bevels the sole to allow it to move through the turf like a thinner-soled iron.

As further proof that HMB isn’t a Game-Improvement or Distance offering cleverly slid into the MP lineup, it needs to be pointed out that the MOI of the MMC and HMB are effectively the same. Because of the deeper center of gravity placement, the HMB can be expected to fly appreciably higher than the MMC – and that’s precisely the point.

For those planning on building an MP-20 combo set; in the long and middle irons, the choice isn’t between compact and clunky. If you want higher trajectory, you want HMB, if you’re looking for a more penetrating ball flight, MMC is the better option. Either way, you get an iron that looks like an MP iron is supposed to look.

The MP-20 HMB is available in 3-PW. Because of its higher launch, it’s expected to generate some interested among slower swingers as well.

The more time I have to think about the MP 20 line the more I'm thinking full set of HMBs! I really don't want to give up the forgiveness of the MMCs especially on shots low or tow side but I love the look of blades. Maybe these are the best of both worlds?

My exact thinking but to me it will come down to the feel as well. My concern is the hollow body 3-8 irons of the HMB. Hopefully they got the feel right and it feels solid and not tingy like other hollow irons I have hit in the past. PXG and TM P790 got it right with the foam inside so will see if Mizuno can accomplish this with their copper underlay. Hopefully these hit the fitting carts soon.

@Vosh68 - can you weigh in on this?

I saw a post from trhodes saying they felt like the fli hi. Those feel pretty darn solid to me. I aggre 100% taylormade nailed the acoustics on the p790, not so much the feel though. I'm hopeful that mizuno would not release a MP iron that sounds hollow, even though it is.
