What is the other forum you were discussing things with him on? Would love to see how he interacts when he can't run things.

In person (I took a few lessons ages ago), I can't say he's either pleasant or friendly, but that's also not what i hire a swing coach for. imo, he knows a lot about golf and the swing, but not more than many other teaching professionals with as much experience, dedication, data analyzation etc.. I'm not exactly sure why he's so intolerant of other perspectives, but if you haven't met a ton of others like him irl, then you're a hermit.

> > > >

> > > > As for the sandtrap, it's got a **** ton of wonderful content, much by iacas. But it's also not a good forum for many. iacas and mods do pride themselves in being "fair" and "completely open to other's opinions and experiences". But that means they'll passive aggressively (or directly) insult you and then say "you're just wrong and not understanding some basic concept/fact". To me and my friends at least, the mods come off as either "yes-men" or fanboys. Never seen one of them disagree w/ iacas... ever. I'd say it's a great place for reading, but I stopped posting there years ago, and would recommend others to post at other forums first (unless you're just posting supportive comments of the mods/iacas). but again, lots of great articles and stuff, esp by iacas.

> > >

> > > Haha - this is virtually word for word what I'm going through over there right now. He's refusing to let me post something about strokes gained. He says I don't understand it, but refuses to explain why. It's utterly pathetic. It suggests to me that he doesn't understand it, which makes me question a lot of the other stuff he posts. I'll not be posting anything there anymore.

> >

Add a signature with your identity - we don't need your SSN or your street address, your cell phone #, nothing like that - so we can address you by your name. And remember, this is golf, so we expect you to be honest. No name, no identity: no more conversation here.

> Yeah that’s pretty much textbook. I had the temerity to suggest that the mental game might account for more than 5% of the difference between any two given golfers. I argued that for a while giving chapter and verse and got shouted down. Then the thread got locked “temporarily” after iacas had his final say. I called him childish for doing that and deleting some other posts of mine and got banned. I sent him a most enjoyable pm telling him I was turning off all my notifications and logging off so I’d never know if he replied but that I would check back if he grew up and posted my thread. He didn’t. He did force out a banning notice to me, but I deleted it. Not sure what it said beyond I was banned. I don’t care either. I’ve been “discussing” other things with him on another forum since but it’s not his so he can’t dictate where it goes. Someone else was ripping into him too. It was fun.

>

> It’s a nice feeling not caring what he thinks anymore. The one thing I’m a little sad about is I do like some of the other people on there. Some of them post here though so I guess I’ll just have to live with that.

I had a similar experience. They removed my posts and blocked me for giving lots of reasons why Bethpage Black is not boring and saying that NY-area golf courses include Long Island and Westchester, contrary to what iacas said on both items. They actually removed and blocked comments. I then noticed that half the people on that site are moderators. I think it's a very closed group. GolfWRX is worlds better.

I like it here, usually. Still the best place to find the best pics of the real tour gear and that's what keeps bringing me back.

Little Erik is the worst. He has narcissistic personality disorder and runs his own website so he can control EVERYTHING. Changes your posts, straight up deletes them and hates everything from Johnny Miller, John Daly and ClubProGuy. It's obvious he he is an uber dork that was bullied and had his lunch taken from him all the time. Can you imagine how annoying he would be to play golf with? Lol

The Sandtrap. He literally deletes your posts or edits them because he has such a frail personality. All of the responses this thread about the treatment there is spot on. He loves to argue behind the screen of a computer and is such a contrarian he was even arguing that Patrick Reed was a good guy and all the stories from college weren't true.

Since this got bumped back up again,
@ChipNRun
"I read TheSandTrap.com regularly. It has its pluses and minuses.
As for the mysterious iacas, I have met him in person. He is a decent businessman with credentials in the science and computer areas, as manifest in his strong focus on precision among posters.Circa 2011 TST had a running discussion and how-to depository on S&T (stack n' tilt), but that faded quite awhile ago. TST now emphasizes the 5SK golf development system.
As of today, TST has 51,181 members. I'm not sure if that's helpful in determining world site rankings or not."

Its 2020 now, hopefully they've seen the light and have switched over the merits of Stack & Jilt, Flipping It, and the 747 Swing System. Speaking of that, if we're talking about 2nd favorite golf-related websites, mine would be Club Pro Guy's.

Iacas ripped Padraig Harrington's pitching and chipping techniques. I said I'm sure he would play anyone on the website for any amount of money on short game. Iacas actually said he would play him and has a better short game along with the other owner.

BTW he doesn't like clubproguy which is comical in itself.

@MUNIGRIT said, "Iacas ripped Padraig Harrington's pitching and chipping techniques."
I did a search on The Sand Trip. iacas has mentioned Harrington here and there through the years. Through generally positive on PH, iacas mentioned of late PH was no longer playing very well. But, I could find no specific remarks on PH's short game.
One thing: Iacas promotes the "engage the bounce" approach to the pitch shots in the short game. The idea is to skim the clubhead along the ground for partial pitch shots. rather than "engaging the leading edge" and taking a big divot and risk burying the clubhead. iacas says he uses these pitch shots for about 95% of his short game approaches.
The bounce camp says the skimming gives players a bigger margin of error: If the shot is a bit thin, is will carry farther but check up better. If the shot is a bit fat, it won't carry as far but will run out more. The high-bounce practitioners often use Edel wedges, which offer bounce greater than 20* on some sole grinds. (Edel wedge fittings use a set procedure for assessing golfers).
Harrington's WITB features medium-bounce wedges(10* to 12*), so possibly iacas thinks PH would do better with more bounce?

Update on October 2017 data on the TheSandTrap: Evidently TST has added to its rolls, increasing from 51K to north of 59K members.

That said, I think I need to worry about my short game rather than PH's!

Haven't seen much on Geoff Shackelford's site which used to be semi-popular until he lost his temper several times over innocuous posts and began deleting and banned anyone and everyone who challenged him. And he got nasty about it. He took pride in ridiculing posters...making fun of them and then banning them. For instance, he would constantly ridicule posters for not having the balls to use their real name, yet his father, Lynn Shackelford. posts there all the time using the name "Lynn S", never stating who he really was. Plus his site became riddled with typos and wrong information. Nowadays his site is limited to a small group of the same posters over and over again. He got called out for taking Callaway money as the banner advertiser for his site, and hosting the Callaway podcast with ads pimping the "Long and Soft Chrome" golf ball, while at the same time preaching the golf ball should be rolled back because it "goes too far" lol. He seems to basically neglect his site these days.
