There was more to it than the pants. The pants were the cherry on top. But that's another story.

 

Why capri pants? Probably rhetorical, but I'll give my answer anyway.

 

It's the same reason that some guys old enough to know better (ie, my age) wear sunglasses on their hats (never intending to actually wear them to cover their eyes). It's the same reason that they wear low-rise slacks. It's the same reason that they'll wear performance shirts when they secretly much prefer cotton. It's the same reason they'll wear their caps backwards. It's the same reason that they'll have a bike rack on their car roof carrying around a $3K bicycle, and the bike never leaves the rack. Near the coasts, replace the bike with a killer surfboard. In the winter, replace them both with some high-end skis. It's the same reason that 50 yo women dress like Baltimore street walkers.

 

Instead of being comfortable growing old, men and women want to be young, and they'll chase it forever. Not for me, but I can't I blame them (unless they're men and wear capri pants).

Interesting- Equally impressive for me was the amount of 1 stroke or playoff wins. There were A LOT more than I figured there would be. I was there and aware of it, but I didn't watch much of the early stuff so the show was an awesome recap.

Yup. It was a special time in golf. He was so dominant made the competition look weak. All the young guns need to add up together to > about 1 TW. TW was largely done by 2009 at age 34. DJ is 35, Rory 30, Jordan 26, JT 26, BK 29, Reed 29, Bubba 41.

That margin of victory at so many tournaments was the biggest surprise for me and also the sheer amount of WGC wins and the number of times won at the same event. He was just crazy good.

 

Someone mentioned the loss of invincibility at majors, I think the loss to YE Yang played had a huge impact going forward. I still can't believe he didn't win that one.
