FIFY. Things change. The game is fickle. If BK loses that putter...

I remember, it seems like so long ago now, an up and coming golfsmith going by the name of young Jordan Spieth was THE MAN. His putter revolted and now he is JAG.

Spieth's putter is not his issue, his issue is ball striking. Brooks consistently strikes the ball well, thus is always in contention. When his putter behaves he can win very easily, when it doesnt he's still right there for the most part.

Spieth was T8 SG Putting this week and 56 SG off the tee (out of a 63 man field)

putter got nothing to do with it ... his 2 triples and 2 doubles were the result of drives that missed the fairway by 20-40 yards ...

Of course he tries during majors. He tries way too hard. That's the problem. He didn't shoot himself out of The Open last week because he really wasn't fussed about winning a major in front of his home crowd.

Yeah, this. Smarter people than I have studied it and come up with a 18-24 month window of peak golf over the course of a career, excepting the all-time greats. Just look at Spieth and Rory (or Harrington and Molinari if you feel like going down a notch). They're still very very good, but everything that people are saying about Koepka right now are the same things people were saying about Rory in 2014 or Young Jordan in 2016. Check back in a year or two or three to see if he's still doing it or not. Until then it's still the interminable Jack v. Tiger debate....

I think that is true to a much shorter duration for all golfers. (I hope) We all have those rounds where everything clicks, your drives go an extra 10 yards, you stick some irons in close, the hole looks like a five gallon bucket and the beer cart girl actually seems interested. I shot a career round last week for me. (No beer cart girl in sight though.) Everything clicked into place. Last Sunday a different part of my game was on but I finished with I think 34 putts. It wasn't that I was putting badly as I never three putted, I just wasn't giving myself many chances at birdie with my irons.

I dare say that nobody on tour has the luxury to hit balls like Hogan. They have other obligations and I'd bet the rounds take longer to play. If you only have limited time to practice and you need to get some part of your game back in line, you are inevitably neglecting another part. If you have four hours of daylight and you feel off with your irons you have to get that lined out. You don't have time to devote to chipping around the green and putting.
