Cooler for Push Cart

Recommended Posts

So I did a search on this topic and there is a current thread on this in the junior golf forum, but those kids aren't carting around brewskis and that section doesn't get as much traffic.

So I'm not interested in the made for coolers. Clic Gear, etc. Just looking for one that is an appropriate size (6-8 cans), and can be hung off of or draped over a cart handle. So what are you guys using? Please post pics of your rig if you can.

I posted in that thread earlier (i'll be honest, I didn't realize it was the juniors forum ha). I'm in the same boat. I didn't want one of the made-for coolers for my clicgear because I haven't heard good things about it. I just picked up a Polar Bear H2O 12 soft cooler with the full foam. It was <$100 on ebay during the last bonus bucks push.

I was looking for a cooler that I could rig up on the push cart but also throw in a cart basket if riding, and it will work for day trips. The size of this one is pretty solid - it is a little larger than a 12 pack of beer. It is a little stiff because of the foam and lining, but I think this is going to work for me. I threw some ice, an ice pack, and some cans/water in there over the weekend and it stayed frozen all day. It's got 4 metal tie-down hooks on each side and multiple carabiner attachment points. I ordered some 'stroller straps' and a couple of dual carabiner clips. I've got the tour bag extension on my push cart, so that looks like a perfect spot to hang the cooler from. I'll probably clip the bottom onto the legs.

I'm interested in this too. Just bought a clicgear 3.5+ and I'm looking at accessories. The cooler seemed kind of substandard. You have any other ideas for DIY customizations? I was going to get some velcro for a small GPS unit and a small speaker. > @cvhookem63 said:

I got all the clips in, and 4 of these work perfectly. I put 2 just below where the mesh basket is and 2 down on the legs. Clip them to the tie down hooks on the cooler, and boom - perfect fit. I played 45 holes in a cart on Saturday and everything was still ice cold at the end of the day. The best part is the clips don't get in the way when I fold it up, so I don't have to worry about messing with taking them off each time.

When I want to use a speaker, I'll just toss my JBL Clip in the mesh basket or clip it on my bag somewhere. One of these clips ^ would work well if you wanted it to be hanging from the cart itself. I don't use a GPS, so I haven't though much about that. Clicgear does make a GPS mount attachment though.

CV post up a couple pics of it rigged up on your push cart, i'm definitely interested in this idea! I was looking at the jones shag bag just because i think it looks cool as hell and would look nice hanging off my push cart, but curious to see how your set up turned out!

Local course ran a special for a free Callaway Clubhouse cooler included with a purchase of a five pack plus a sixth beer free. Had the course logo embroidered on top. The girl let me get 25oz tall boys. Saved a few for later. It'll hold four microbrew 16oz cans with some ice. Works fine hanging over push cart handle base.

Alright - sorry for the delay guys. It has been HOT in East Texas and I haven't been walking much. I did finally walk a quick round on Saturday though with the fully rigged up push cart. I used 4 of the baby stroller straps. The bottom two are attached to the tie down strap hooks on the cooler, and the top two are attached to the handles of the cooler. It works pretty well. If I want to get a drink out I just pull the top handle strap out of the clips or reach in from the side with them all still connected.

I've hung a cheap softside cooler from carabiners but didn't like the way it rocked back and forth. The dual compartment of the cliq gear cooler isn't optimal but it's what I've been using. Recently, I played a course that wouldn't let me use an outside cooler. I hung their hardside cooler off my alignment sticks. I placed the handle over the alignment sticks and it hung off the side of the bag, if you can picture that. It worked just fine.

I've only played 1 course that tried to stop me from bringing my own cooler, and the only reason i brought it was for cold water and gatorade because i know this course doesn't put water jugs out. when i told them to just give me my money back and i'd take my business elsewhere they relented especially since i was only using it for water/gatorade.

And that's a solid setup CV! Glad i'm not the only one still rocking the engage wedges! I think this may be my final season for them unfortunately, might be time for some new wedges.

Thanks man. I have a couple of backup sets of Engage wedges (and another 46* for when this one wears out) so I plan to keep using them for a while. They fit me perfectly.

This cooler setup is nice because I can use it for other things than golf - and it doesn't rock at all when I am walking. The 'stroller clips' hold it in place without much slack.

Ugh the 46*...so jealous. I've got 50-54-58 and a 60 but the 50-54-58 have been well used the last 2 seasons. I think it's about time to switch it up, I definitely should have bought a bunch of backups when they were getting fire saled but I had no idea i'd like them so much!

Okay, that cart with the cooler and umbrella looks silly...

Silly functional that is!

Jokes aside, I've been looking at getting one of these set ups, it gets darn hot where I am, but just can't bring myself to break down and get the whole set up... I'm sure my dad would love it, I just feel silly hauling around that much gear... With that being said, I did just buy a bucket hat to keep the cancer off my ears.

Yeah I do agree. I don't use the cooler and umbrella for every round. The down-side of using the fully-loaded cart/umbrella situation is that it does take some time to get everything loaded onto the cart and setup.

I really only use the umbrella for shade a handful of times a year, and there are plenty of times when I won't bring the full cooler setup either. The cooler wasn't necessarily a golf purchase, but it does work for that purpose when needed.

Sweet setup. Is that the tour bag attachment that you are using on the top of the clicgear?

Yeah it is. This big Nike Cart Bag didn't fit on the cart very well, so I added the Tour Bag Kit. I still have the original as well, but I leave on the Tour Bag Kit even when I am using my stand bag. I like that it stands the bag a little more upright.

I like that set up better as well. I may try that on mine to get the bag further away from the mesh basket. Thanks
