Maxfli Tour 2019

I've tried a couple of the Dick's store brand balls over the years and been mightily disappointed. There aren't many balls on the market that are seriously shorter for me than normal (or seriously longer for that matter) but the old Gamer Tour and one of the other Top Flite models (can't recall which it's been a long time) were definitely short.

But on impulse I picked up a 2-for-$50 deal on the Maxfli Tour X before a recent vacation trip to the beach where I knew I'd lose a dozen or more balls (most holes were OB left and water right or vice versa). I really liked the Tour X and didn't for a minute feel like I was giving up anything relative to, say, a Pro V1. Based on past experience I was surprised. Maybe the "Maxfli" ones are different than the Top Flite ones.

Honestly, if I hadn't done the 4-for-3 deal on Titleist balls a few weeks ago I might just keep playing the Maxfli right on and on, although I'd probably switch to the Maxfli Tour since it's available in bright green.

I’m really really hoping it gets dirt cheap and I can buy like 12 dozen

It's not impossible for Dick's store brand balls to go on closeout when they are discontinued and so forth but generally speaking they are a good deal at everyday pricing (i.e. 2-for-$50 for the Maxfli Tour) but seldom a super-great deal (i.e. like you can sometimes find on eBay for last year's Bridgestone or Taylormade balls).

Actually, you can double stack coupons at Dick’s. I had a $10 off plus a $10 of $50 and got my balls for $15dzn. Can’t wait for my $20 off coupon

Don't do in 2020, you'll find another ball that you like and you will be sitting on way too many balls. I have a 1 dozen rule, never more than 12 at a time.

Both the Tour and Tour X are very good balls, with the X being my personal preference between the 2. If they have an issue it is cover durability IMO.

Played my first round with a Maxfli Tour. Tested the distance of the Tour and Tour X against a ProV1x and there was no noticeable drop off. The tour had plenty of spin to hold greens on full shots. Cover held up better then I expected as far as durability and ability to clean up. The only thing I noticed was a little less spin around the green but that could of very well been strike.

If they ever go back to the u6/x, i'm jumping back in with Maxfli. The ball feels awesome and right for me. I bought 2 dozen for cheap when they were clearing them out. Unfortunately, they were low in the ball-ho priority queue when i finally got around to playing 'em. The Ufli Speed wasn't too bad but it couldn't replicate the U6 feel for me. Anyone have an idea how the current Tour/X compares with the u6/x? If the ball goes on sale at the sweet spot of $20/dozen, may have to try out a dozen just based on the deal.

Got 2 dozen Tour X for $40 ($50 with 20% off) and they look great and was able to chip and pitch a little with them yesterday. Will give a full test run next Saturday but if the reviews I have seen are accurate it sounds like a great value.

My question however is this. If the CG aid is supposed to fly the ball higher and farther, do all ball do this ( I assume yes) and might that be just one more thing to think about? This 8 iron shot is going to go 4 yards further now but if the CG is 90 degrees to the target line in when hitting off the fairway its standard distance? Really curious to see if myself, or anyone else can really see any noticable difference or is it all 100% marketing bluff?

I played them last Wednesday for the first time and didn't really notice a difference whether the line was lined up off the tee or not. I wasn't really getting the spin on short chips I was hoping for, like I can get from other balls, but overall I liked the ball and will continue to use the 2 dozen I got. Longer approaches stopped good, will just have to account for more rollout on chips.

A CG aid will help some on drivers (and theoretically on putts) because little differences have significantly more impact. On other shots, unless you happen to get the CG lined up straight, it's not going to have any affect... which is the exact same as any other golf balls.

The old ProV1 lined their seams up with the CG which was deemed illegal... Every ball has enough imperfection in it's build to have a CG... I'm not sure how much that changes the ball flight. I'd bet that it varies a ton by manufacturer. The Maxfli ball is literally just identifying and taking advantage of a manufacturing defect.

I played with a Maxfli U/6 Tour Soft ball yesterday. Even through 8 holes when I pushed a drive left into the fescue to end the streak.

Needless to say, I ordered 2 dozen 2019 Tour balls. I was more ticked off that I lost the U/6 than I was that came in with a 78 after being even though 8.

Bought the 2 for $50 and got a dozen of each. Regular in the cool green color. X in matte white. Off of driver, tegular would just drop out of the sky no matter how well struck, and the x was straighter and longer. Off of irons the x is a half a club longer and higher as well. Regular flew lower and shorter. Wedge spin and putter I couldn't tell a difference. Both felt softer than you'd expect, but the x again a little softer.

Unsure which one is specced for high vs low SS or high vs low spin - FWIW I'm low to mid 90s SS with a shallow AoA - but the difference was very stark.

I've been playing these balls for a few months now (probably about 10-12 rounds). I really like them both, but I prefer the Tour over the Tour X. When I'm striking it really well, there's not much difference in the two balls. When I'm not hitting it in the middle every time, the regular Tour feels MUCH better (I'm big on feel) with better results too.

As far as overall performance, I get a little more consistent distance out of the regular Tour ball (from every club), but a just a touch more green side spin from the X (not enough to make me prefer the X ball though). The radioactive green is killer if you prefer a ball with some color. I game that and the matte white. I love the matte white also, but I will warn you, it looks dingy/yellowish after less than a dozen holes.

I'm sure I'll continue to try other balls, but for someone looking for a cheaper, great performing, great feeling, great looking ball (especially the green), these fit the bill nicely.
