Prior Generation Pro V1X versus 2019 Pro V1X

I have both to try, to those who have played both tell me differences....is 2019 softer for starters?

I prefer the 2019 Pro V1x. I just love the ball.....

Both balls feel similar compression. If there is a difference I can’t feel it. The 2019 balls are a bit quicker ball speed wise, nothing huge maybe 1-2 mph at most. Just enough speed to add a yard or 2 in carry. Spin and everything else are nearly the same.

I think the pre-2013 to 2013 transition was a pretty major change in the nature of the Pro V1/Pro V1x, at least by Titleist's standards. Any significant change year to year is unusual. As a brand, they are VERY conservative in trying to make sure that someone who likes this year's product will still like next year's. So that results in a very incremental approach to improvement.

I haven't perceived any instant difference in 2013 to 2015 to 2017 to 2019 Pro V1x characteristics. I think I agree with their marketing info about a couple mph more ball speed with the 2019 version but I couldn't swear to it.

I have noticed little difference between this generation and the last. They are both excellent balls and long past the “X = clicky” stereotype.

Just used the newest version for the first time yesterday. On balls that were well struck, I hit some irons a good half club farther and a couple of drives a good 10-15 yards farther than usual. Played a more casual round today with the last of what I had left of the previous version to compare and it just did not seem to go quite as far as some of my shots yesterday. Playing again the next two days with the newest version and am really curious to see if that holds up. Not ready yet to definitively declare anything until I see results from more than just one day. But I am really curious after what I saw from the first round with the new version.

Just a quick follow-up after 2 more days of using the newest version of Pro V1x. Seems to be slightly longer for me off both the irons and the driver than the previous version. Same half club or so off the irons and up to 10 yards off the driver. Same greenside control and putts the same for me.

When purchasing mint, used versions from years past is there any performance difference meaning, as they get older are they more likely to not perform as well? I'd guess it would be impossible to find a 2016-2017 ball out in the water or the woods that is "mint" but wanted to ask the question.

Who knows where a clean-looking "mint" ball has actually been when bought from a used ball dealer.

But if it's actually a new, unused ball that's been stored in normal indoor conditions I doubt you'd see any falloff in performance for at least 5 years, probably a good bit longer.
