B. Draddy Pima Cotton Polo

Recommended Posts

I have one of their performance material polos but just got first Pima cotton polo. Performance I’ll always hang dry but can you dry the Pima cotton or will it shrink?? Care instructions say you can tumble dry but just curious. I’m always skeptical

After washing, I can never get the PM cotton polos to iron properly. No matter what dryer setting, and even spending a good deal of time trying to iron them - they always remain wrinkled. Suggestions?

My process:

1) Wash on cold, normal or gentle cycle depending on what else is in the load

2) Remove from washer as soon as cycle completes, so wrinkles don't have time to set in

3) Dry on permanent press, low heat. Make sure dryer isn't more than half full, I usually just do my polos and work chinos

4) Pull out as soon as dryer stops, so again they're not sitting there getting wrinkled

If I do this, generally I don't even need to iron them. If I do need to iron, medium heat iron with steam gets them wrinkle-free. The only way I can see the iron not working is if you're letting them sit too long in the washer or dryer and they're getting some really embedded wrinkles. In which case I do a quick speed wash cycle in the washer and then return to step 3 above.

I'm 5'11", 170 pounds, average build and a small fits me perfectly. I would say they fit on the roomier side but not quite as big as most Millar/FJ stuff. I was given a Millar shirt in medium and it's like a dress on me.

Get yourself a flat-iron. I 'stole' one of my wife's and use it to make sure the hems and collars of all my shirts are crisp - works better than an iron and much quicker.

What setting do you put the hair straightener, uh "flat iron", on to get your collars flattened out? I have some Polo shirts where the collars need some serious attention and the iron just isn't cutting it.

@HackZogan - it’s set to heat to 410, but I start when it gets to 190. The hotter the better, but be careful with self collars... they burn if it gets too hot. I’d say the sweet spot is 190 - 250... if you notice they still need more attention increase the temp incrementally.
