2019 Titleist T200 irons

I’m a Titleist fanboy through and through. But there’s really no reason not to go with something like the JPX 919F if you’re in the Players Distance market.

-Forged Irons

-Stunning Looks

-Lofts that are reasonable (PW is 46* and the GW IS 50*. No need for two gap wedges which is ludicrous when it comes to recent Titleist sets)

^ That is GREAT news!

Does anyone know if the offset has been reduced vs the AP3?

Yes, there is - they are spinny as hell :-)

This is also confirmed by M*G*S Most wanted test. Superve if you are a low spin guy, but a nightmare for someone like me. (Ok, maybe not spinny as hell, but most spin of all clubs in average. )

Lofts are very strong, but progressive so P will be ok, but low clubs are really strong and there will be huge gappings.

(I don’t defend T200, just replying that I see a lot of reasons not to go for 919F :-)

Very good points, thanks for sharing. Do you think that the spin issues can be fixed by getting fitted for the proper shaft?

I ask because I’m looking to get my first iron fitting and am deciding between the Mizunos and Titleist. Thanks!

Spin is a result of CG location, dynamic loft and strike. If you can find a shaft which helps to drastically reduce your dynamic loft, and you hit them solid, then you will see them spin less.

My son currently plays JPX 919 Tour. Was at Manchester Lane with him today for a full fitting. He hit the T100 with a bunch of different shafts but could not get spin down to reasonable #s. Tried the T200 and it came down to perfect values and descent angles. Shaft was KBS Tour X. Of course I did not realize that the lofts were so darn strong and a 43 PW to 50 deg Vokey transition Is a concern. Regardless he really enjoyed hitting them and liked the feel just fine. Coming from a 919T gamer that shows Titleist have really improved look and feel over the clicky AP3.

Specs are up on the Titleist site and some youtube reviews as well.

A few questions I haven't seen addressed yet, if anyone knows...

1. Offset specs? This isn't on the Titleist site.

2. It appears we lose the "Max Impact" polymer backing after the 7? If this improves feel, why ditch it?

3. What happens with the rest of the "tech" when you transition from the 3-7 (all the stuff they've been talking about) to the 8, 9, and wedge? Change in face construction, use of tungsten, etc?

I love the look of both the T100 & T200. I'm hoping the sound is improved from my current AP3's

So you get a 46* Vokey .. 3* gap from the last T200 wedge and 4* gap from the 50* Vokey. Or bend them all so you have 4* gaps.

Problem solved

But getting an extra 46 Vokey is another club in the bag he does not have room for. Or am i missing something?

To be honest he was not getting significant extra distance with T200 over his JPX919 Tour that are more standard lofts. The T200 spin and dispersion were better than the 919 Tour. He was getting much better distance over the T100 which to be honest performed just like a 718 AP2 for him.

Wondering if we are able to make 5-9 lofts 1 deg weak and then PW 2 deg weak. Not sure if effect on bounce and offset...

So my son redid the iron fitting at my club yesterday. Tried the CMB, T100 and T200.

He quite liked the look and feel of the T100 but it still spun too much and just goes nowhere compared to his 919 Tours. Other than cosmetics he really did not see any significant improvements for T100 over AP2. Obviously that’s just him as seems like a lot of other folks are having success with the T100. CMB was similar performance to T100 which is a bummer as that club is gorgeous looking. I think for players that really deloft/shaft lean their irons they will be great...

In the end T200 won out again. Not even close to be honest. To handle the previously mentioned gap issues we decided to go 5 - GW and then SM7 Vokeys 54 (bent to 53) and 58. If he does not get on with the GW we can always get him a 48 deg Vokey.

One final comment - the T200 look WAY better in-hand than in photos. Not as sexy as the CMB or T100 or 919 Tour but much nicer than say 919 Forged or similar competitors.

Interest peaked on the T200's.... MP 20 MMCs as well as they might look as good as the T100's but have a little better performance if you need lower spin since the lofts are 1-2 degrees stronger accross the set.

So I'm assuming he liked the T200's just as much or better than his 919 tours? A lot more forgiveness?

Yes more forgiving than 919 Tour. I would say they are at least as forgiving as 919 Forged but cleaner look at address.
