Yes, to the utter disbelief of Jim Mora and half of this forum, its time for the Fed Ex Cup Playoffs.

We start near New York City at Liberty National. A course built on a former garbage dump that cost a quarter of a billion dollars to build and plays to a par of 71 and 7353 yards.

Purse: $9,250,000

Fed Ex Cup Points 2000

So if Brooks Koepka misses the cut and Rory Sabbatini wins, Rory passes Brooks in the standings.

Yes, there is a cut this week.

With only three playoff events the starting field of 125 players will be reduced to 70.

The top 18 in the OWGR are here this week as #19 Paul Casey opted to play in Greensboro last week. Rafa Cabrera Bello is a late scratch, but all the other qualfiers are here. The others in the top 50 missing are not PGA Tour members.

SoF is a massive 794 one of the highest for a non major. It is the sixth strongest field of the year after the four majors and TPC.

First place points are 76.

tee times are up...

featured groups (groups of #1-3 in standings, #4-6, TIGER! and one to be voted on)

US and International players have just this week and next to secure their spots on their President's Cup teams.

Is this going to be another week of having to put up with an extreme baba-booey crowd given the location? I might need to watch the coverage with the sound down.

Seems like the shortknockers do well here. Iirc Webb Simpson won here, and before that am even shorter knocker (whose name I've forgotten). So I'm going with Zack Johnson.

Actually even bolder since I see now he's not in the field. So I'll go with Kuchar

Looked like Tiger was out for a practice round with DJ and Brooks...no chance that he does anything this week now, he will have done his back in trying to keep up with the young lads.

Yeah not getting my hopes up for him either. Other than US Open bethpage years ago he tends to flame out in NYC area; MC this year's PG bethpage, MC 06 open at winged foot, some others

For the people who say the FedExCup doesnt matter....just take a look at this field. Strength of field is the highest of any regular tour stop this year other than the Majors and the Players.

Without the $ being thrown at these guys for the FedExCup, you dont get a field like this in August in a regular PGA Tour event.

DeChambeau is just inside the President Cup automatic spots and he has been decrying the fact that his win in Dubai doesn't count for qualification.

Exactly. I don't understand how someone can get so excited to watch these same players play in May at Quail Hollow or Trump Bedminster or Valhalla, but look at this tournament or next week's tournament at Medinah and consider it meaningless and not bother and just say "the season is over".
