If you go by OWGR SoF, at a quick glance, the Honda Classic, Valspar and The Memorial took a hit this year compared to last. No evidence the new schedule is directly responsible for these fields but its definitely a possibility that tournaments outside the big events (majors and The Players) in this new condensed schedule could suffer. It would seem very unlikely that there would be no negative effect on any tournament in that period of the schedule.

LOL. Yes, the poor PGA Tour is so poor the players have to carpool from tournament to tournament and stay four to a room in Motel 6's. They barely have enough money to eat, so they're forced to shoplift from 7-11's on the way to the courses.

The PGA Tour is owned by the players and is a non-profit organization. There's a lot of money in non-profits!

For me, I love the idea of a sport (or anything) that rises above the modern obsession with money, advertising and crass commercialization of everything.

Look the companies running football teams don't give a hoot about the city they're in. They only care about the money and getting numbskulls to sit in the cold in the overpriced seats of a stadium paid for by taxpayers so they can scalp them for food and drinks while they buy nonsense logo'd trinkets at exorbitant prices.

I'd love to have the taxpayers buy me a building for my business.

What the heck does any football team cult member get if a team wins? Nothing, zip, nada, zero. People are so easily conned.

The Memorial is exactly where it has always been. Two weeks before the US Open. Now the May tournament is the PGA instead of the Players, but the new schedule would not have any different effect on playing it. One or two tournaments may be affected negatively but other tournaments may be affected positively. The Florida swing tournaments have always varied year to year.

Do you have a job? Maybe you should tell your employer to make less money because he/she should just love what they do.

We all have the ability to say we are not paying those prices. Until that happens and stadiums are empty and people stop buying $12 hotdogs and cold nachos the price is the price. Supply and demand. That is why Sunday tickets to the masters can resell for $10k. Somebody is willing to pay that to go. Once people stop paying those prices they will come down. Till then, you cannot blame Disney for charging what they do while their park is full.

We are glutenous consumer society that will do anything to make our instagram get 10 more likes. It is not the fault of whatever corp. that we as a whole are willing to buy at whatever price the new shiny thing they are selling.

It now has a major two weeks before that makes a difference in some way to players schedules. It all a bit of unknown at the moment but it's different including The Memorial.

I am the employer and I do love what I do.

Oh, and the NFL Pre-season opener looks to have all-time lowest ratings ever:

Just because I like lasagne doesn't mean I like tacos. Not all golfers are NFL fans and vice versa.

While every thing you said is absolutely true.....It's all in the name of entertainment. I never question what people will do for their own pleasure....those same people in those over priced stadium seats think that me and you are totally insane for chasing a little white ball while using over priced equipment and paying insane greens fee while taking lessons and not getting any better....entertainment is all about the money.....LOL! They think that we are being conned!

I can’t name any event that’s effected positively

The false hood that is “ ratings”? Lol. Advent of the dvr killed that idea. They cannot possibly know how many people watch live in real numbers. Either event.

Selling golf to the unwashed football fan is not good for golf. When the goose is sold and eaten. She no longer lays eggs.

Tell your employees you will cut their pay because you are taking less money from your customers, because you love what you do.

OK, so the Morning Drive folks were talking about the long drive guy hitting a ball 342 yards from Canada to the US across the Niagara River. They were amazed, since it was so foggy and humid. The air was so “heavy.”

Dry air is more dense (ball flies less) and humid air is less dense (ball flies more).

The only thing more dense than dry air are “expert” golf announcers. Don’t people go to junior high school anymore?

bought out by private equity.

capitalization, grammar and reasoning slashed as a cost reduction.

Jonathan Coachman is on the morning drive now?? Jeez, they couldn't find anyone more qualified to talk about the sport of golf than that??

Being qualified to talk about golf is no longer a criteria for being one of hosts, or whatever they are call, on Morning Drive. If it were still a criteria, Robert Damron would be hosting by himself right now.

the tour is a business and wants to maximize earnings for its players ... you may not like that capitalistic notion, but it's the same as any other business ... you love the idea of a sport /business that rises above money? ... let us know which organizations those are ... would really like to know ...

Then had his own show for a bit. I liked Coach.
