Exactly. I don't understand how someone can get so excited to watch these same players play in May at Quail Hollow or Bedminster or Valhalla, but look at this tournament, or next week's at Medinah, and consider it meaningless and not bother and just say "the season is over".

It’s not something that I have ever really done but I must admit the louder the gallery gets with idiotic shout outs, the closer I get to it.

Stopped hitting tee shots today after the 7th. Sounds like the back is gone.

Anything from now on is a bonus. The Masters win could well have been the exclamation point.

Not sure about the clubhouse. Looks more like what I'd expect from a clubhouse at one of the ET events in the Middle East.

I'm also thinking about it. I can ride a bike and take a ferry from my home island directly to the 12th hole. No stupid parking, no shuttle busing. The trip sounds great. On the other hand who the hell wants to be surrounded by New Jersey area golf fans, in the armpit of summer.

But we are not getting excites in May either ?

It’s a great tournament, I will watch, but they are just big regular tournaments

Having played them both, I'd grade Liberty as pretty good. Bayonne is silly good. Just kind of amazing, actually--though not built for tournament golf like Liberty is. Either way, it's a great use of those pieces of land.

Just from seeing it on TV, Liberty looks tight. Which given what they had to work with isn't surprising they had to cut corners somewhere. However the view is stunning and the setting exciting, I enjoy it more than the nondescript looking inland courses they've also used around NYC. Wish they would just play the tournie every year there, so at least viewers could become more familiar with the course.

I’ve played it and it didn’t seem tight at all. Very fair off the tee

Agreed, and fair is a good word for it. It's wider than it looks on TV, but not without interest. Plenty of holes where playing close to a hazard to put yourself in the left or right side of the fairway is the key to having an attractive looking approach rather than a scary one. It's a pretty good melding of golden age shot values and nouveau links aesthetics IMO.

Kind of cracks me up that when the Barclays first came to Liberty the tour pros bitched and moaned about it being too narrow. That's the point man! Plenty of room for me at 260 from my tees, and it SHOULD be narrow for you at 300-320 from your tees! Hit a 3 iron if it's bothering you for chrissake.

Is he afraid he's going to be left at home if he's #9?

Someone tell him that none of these playoff events will get him points for next year's Ryder Cup team.

You’d think a super genius like him would get that all figured out.
