Global Junior Golf Ranking

Recommended Posts

Looks like a lot pga sectionals are using them now in addition to JGS

In order for an individual to be ranked by Global Junior Golf Rankings™, they must compete in events that adhere to the following guidelines:

Must be between the ages of 5-19 years old

Must have competed in two or more one-day or multi-day stroke play tournaments with the following:

Total of five players or more in each division

Completed FOUR 18-hole rounds with a no-stroke-limit rule in place for the 5-19 division

The event must be completed and the results submitted, within one week, including all matching player information (i.e., name, city, state, and country.)

They will be soon if this Global Junior Golf Ranking thing takes off. Mothers are now putting Trackman and GCQuads on their Amazon baby shower gift registry.

It's no fun when the rabbit's got the gun.

We have a place locally that has a pro from a private club that gives lessons who uses trackman. You can rent the indoor trackman bay for $60/hr and get all the numbers you want. Totally pointless to buy your own. We get a couple kids together and split the cost for the hour.

There's definitely something more important that I should be doing.

Thread is going way off track. Most tournaments for younger kids have stroke limits so I believe they will not count. They have a lot tournament associations signed up

https://www.juniorgolfranking.com/tournament_affiliates.asp

It's interesting that they will count 1 day events. The bigger question is will this matter in a year or two.

How the

Rankings are Computed

We use four criteria to compute a player's overall ranking and their ranking within their graduation class.

Tournament Score (80%)

After all of the tournament results are submitted, the rankings are calculated excluding the 20% of a players scoring differential. This 80% is the players score compared to the yardage and difficulty of the course. This is also the average difference of their individual round scores compared to their tournament rounds completed in the last one-year period.

Head-to-Head (10%)

The number displayed, is the result of a player playing against another competitor in the same GJGR tournament. This criteria counts for 10% of a player's ranking calculation.

Top-Five Finish (5%)

This criteria displays the finishes for a player. Top-Five Finishes counts 5% in the ranking computation, which means the more tournaments a competitor finishes in the top-five, he receives credit for the Finish.

Weather (5%)

The weather criteria* will be 5% of a player's ranking calculation and will be determined as follows:

Sorry, but I need my numbers at each tournament. :/

I do not see the AJGA, the HJGT, IMG and the FCWT being affiliates. Does it mean those events would not count in this ranking?

Is it bad that I carried my GC2/HMT in the cart for each shot? :-)

I don’t think that matters at this point since there new. You have to give them a few years to be relevant. They do have a good start and seem to have a growing list. I noticed them because I seen a few tournaments now reporting to them. They have a lot pga sections and capturing 1 day tournaments so I expect them to capture more kids. If that is relevant or not I think it will take time to figure it out.

The biggest issue I see is they charge to really see anything.

It could if they start capturing more events. Only thing I see with JGS only taking multi day events is that kids are getting ranked pretty high every year and only playing in 4 or 5 qualifying events.

There's definitely something more important that I should be doing.

You still have to play well and against a good SOT field. Mistake we probably have made. Interested in ones closer to home.

I don't see it happening. There aren't good events and college coaches aren't looking there. The general public knows it. I don't like the idea of 1 day events being included in any ranking. When do the kids ever get a break? One day events are practice rounds for the big events. They are rounds where you are trying out new things. I see them fading. People aren't going to pay either.

I am GenX.  If you really think I care about what you have to say, I don't.

The. Biggest issue is they need to be more open and at least make it easier to see actual rankings and score. The website is not user friendly enough and they need to give you more not less then JGS without having to pay $20. I should be able to click on any player and see what tournament a kid has played. If the database is large enough it is worth it since there are tournaments there that are not on JGS. For the instance It would be very interesting to see kids ranked when you include 1 day qualifiers.

Time will tell though. I think it has potential especially for younger kids and the fact that a lot of pga sections are using it gives it some credibility.

I actually found them easier to search. I'm not trying to sound pro-GJGS.

Also, I don't think 1 day events are always practice rounds. If you have AJGA Q. that would be nice if they were ranked. PGA Junior championship qualifiers something.

JGS is 36 holes or nothing.

BTW - JGS is 29.95 for rankings and GJGS is 19.95. Like I said Im not pro or anti anyone. Son is ranked on both.

I find it horrible to search the global.

They HAVE been around several years. They suck. They can’t calture enough events. It’s not hard at all to do. Honestly, for someone who knows what they’re doing, they can capture all results submitted to JGS since they’re publicly searchable, and plug those into their formula. But they don’t. Their rankings could not be worth less.
