Second the Softfli. Nearly major tour ball length, great feel, great price.

I think Maxfli just updated balls. No idea if same or better. If you see Softfli on sale try them.

What are you 95-100 mph guys using? I find the higher spin balls such as Chrome and Pro V1 seem to work best for me but I do play a Precept Laddie during the winter months. I hope to try some Cut balls in the future.

Srixon Q Star Tours or TM Project (a). I like the greenside spin (at least conceptually). In wet winter conditions I have been using Titleist Velocity's, figuring I need more roll out than spin.

SS around 95 and handicap is around 15. I like the Q Star Tour as been referenced. Another great ball is the Tour B RX or RXS. Can snag them on amazon for around 32 some what consistently, may have to get yellow though.

what is your swing speed? Wilson Duo U is amazing for a low compression ball. Unless you have a really slow swing speed, you can play most anything. Dean Snell has a great video which talks about this "myth"> @ghoul31 said:

I’m in that range and the Prov1 works best for me too. Does everything well.

Slower swings speed usually means you generate less spin. That should mean you want to use the ball the generates the most spin possible. The idea of being two slow to compress a firm ball is a myth, and the idea of a soft ball going further for slow swing speed players is also a myth. All things being equal, a firmer ball will spin more than a softer one. So you should play the firmest ball you can stand the feel of.

 

The one caveat to this is that if you are swinging slow enough where distance is a real issue, you might want to play a soft two piece ball that doesn't spin much to maximize distance off you irons. Since you're also probably not launching the ball high at that speed, you're going to play to run the ball out as far as possible on full shots, and the reduced spin will be an added benefit. I'd say this really only becomes an issue if you're swinging at 85MPH or less though.

From what I gather at my local golf mart, my driver swing speed is 98-103 mph. I have been playing the Supersoft since its release, or close to it. I'm so impressed with the distance that I'm reluctant to try anything else, although it would make me feel better to do a complete reevaluation. I don't have access to launch monitors or anything, so I would literally be throwing down balls on an empty fairway and plot the distances out.

 

Bonus - I don't have any issues making this ball stop when I need to, and they feel incredible.

Duo Soft is the closest anyone has gotten to Maxfli Softfli IMO. Cally Supersofts are good too. For urethane, I’m unsettled and bouncing between Maxfli Tour CG and Titleist AVX (not a natural fit on launch but kills spin)

Personally, I'd rather take an extra club and go for the green and know it will stop vs hoping it runs onto the green.

I am typically 220-235 typically with the driver and about 150 with a 7i.

In the crappy weather rounds I normally use something 2pc and soft like a Callaway Supersoft matte or Srixon Soft Feel. Both work really well for a cheap $20 ball.

For the past 2 yrs I have switched to urethane and have been using the Chrome Soft Truvis.

I recently found some Srixon Star XV's in my basement (2017 model) and hitting them very well now that it has warmed up and is firmer out.

In terms of distance I don't see much difference at all. Off wedges though the 2pc balls seem to launch a bit higher with a steeper descent angle than the urethane balls do.

My SS is 80 to 85. I play the Titieist AVX. Many people on these forums tell it's wrong for me. I've tried several brands and types over the last year ( Pro-V-1 and 1X, Cally Supersoft and Chrome Soft, TM TP5X, Wilson Duo Soft and the Snell MTB. The AVX gives me the best overall performance for my game. I've had to slightly adjust to how it reacts on chips and pitches, but the extra distance off the tee is well worth it.
