The daily driving averages are available by looking at the player's full scorecard, but it's not available in bulk. I'd love to get my hands on the full data set, and toss out the low averages for the week. I think you're right that the average would jump close to 10 yds. 20 yds would be possible if two of the four rounds had mishits. For example, Carlota averaged 242, 284, 275, and 267 for the week. Clearly the 242 is an outlier. Remove that, and she averages 275 for the week, and not 267.

I'd also like to toss out the long drives for the week, assuming other contributing factors. Morgan averaged 240, 231, 258, and 325 for the WBO. Don't know what she had for breakfast on Sunday, or her post round session with Martin Hull on Saturday was spectacular, but that 325 average was off the charts.

If he played legitimate college ball, it wouldnt even be fair to the WNBA player if he was still in college shape. You realize that USWNT soccer plays U17 boys and loses, in several sports as well, Canada and the US Womens Hockey teams routinely train against U18 teams and have pretty abysmal records. Testosterone is that much of an advantage.

Golf sure because were all playing different tees to equalize genetic advantages, but competitive sports directly against someone, testosterone makes it an incredibly uneven playing field.

Over the full year though i think that a 10-20yd jump would be on the very high side. They are still pros and don't have a ton of mishits. The bigger issue would be people hitting 3 woods but i'd guess they pick holes where most hit driver.

I don't think an LPGA pro is hitting a lot of truly awful shots, like duck hooks that go 175yds or something. I probably only have like 1 or 2 of those all year and these girls are way better than me

For me, that 10-20 yard difference is on the low side. Or more accurately, the way low side.

Yes that's correct, i've read up on the subject a lot too (actually a book i've referenced many times here that is getting long in the tooth now called "Andy Roddick beat me with a frying pan" goes into this and a lot of other fun topics).

It's true that women's pro teams often play against 16yr old boys to train. I believe the famous USWNT featuring Mia Hamm and co often practiced against the 16 year old men's select teams.

BUT , a WNBA player would still murder me i'm guessing. I'm 38 and in really good shape, but i haven't been playing basketball a lot for 15 years. Give me a month to practice maybe i'd score a couple of points LOL. I guess if some chumps can score a few points against Brian Scalabrini in the "scallenge" (fun youtube watch) i might not totally embarrass myself

I have a friend where if he took away bad shots it would probably jump 100yds LOL. But he is a 14 index right now i think. Hits a mammoth ball but several duck hooks

It's more likely a drive that finds the rough, and not a hook. They can get a ton of rollout in the fairway, but the rough can eat up the ball. That's why I think we see 20 to 30 yd differences between days when conditions are more or less the same.

Back at the Meijer, Lexi's averages where 304,287,291 and 282 for an average of 291yds.

My manhood is offended.... The fairways must have been crispy and the tees up.

The only time I've ever seen Lexi hit a ball in person was at Demo Day during the PGA Merchandise Show. I have never seen a female hit the ball like that. My mouth absolutely dropped. It was that impressive.

I watch the LPGA at Desert Ridge in March; the Founders- resort courses- 18 holes designed by Faldo, 18 by Palmer design. They use 9 from each course. The pros regularly shred par there. I have played both course. They are not as easy as the pros make them look. Golf is a lot easier when you hit it in the middle of the club face 90 % of the time. Their wedges are crazy good. Some times a 3 some will all have wedges and the worst shot will be 8 ft from the hole.

isn't Lexi one of the longest. Doesn't she swing 107 ish?

The math is easy. Lots of solid male am's swing 107 and carry it 265.

Longer top male pro's, 115-225

How much longer was Finau than Lexi in the Shark shootout when they were partners? 40 yards?

The PGA Tour still uses two drives each round for their average driving distance. This is the number that is qouted when talking about PGA Tour driving distance leaders. Distance - Measured Drives.

https://www.pgatour.com/stats/stat.101.html

They do measure all tee shots and have a separate distance stati for that. Driving Distance - All Drives.

More like 100. But people can’t accept women hit it shorter than men. Facts hurt.

L. O. L

Yes the women are shorter than their professional brethren on the PGA Tour. Shocking I know. And I know you're trolling with this comment. You do not AVERAGE 276 plus with 100mph club speed.

You remind me of a buddy here that averages about 240. Here is adamant that "no woman is longer" than he is.

I've always said that your real driving distance is what you would feel comfortable taking on as a forced carry....

In this discussion it is rarely asked whether we are talking average or best. A 2-handicapper at my club hits a decent share of stinkers. His usual best is probably 280 or so, but he hits a few 220's and less, and it is NOT intended. I think the female pros play the hole, and are not always interested in distance.

On my handicap of 47, my best is 270ish, but that's about 3 times a year (including twice yesterday!).

These threads when we start talking about averages, I feel like we think pros never mishit balls , and that even good amateurs hit every second ball 75yds duck hooked into a tree.

If you are a decent player and play a course with no overhanging tree branches on the tee boxes etc....its really not that crazy to go a full season with maybe only 1 or 2 really skunky drives.

I have hit some overhanging trees, beyond that my shortest drive all year is maybe like 220.

Could be your for some of you. I'm currently at 3.8 index and probably have one or two per round. I know you're a good player but the long ladies, those over 270 average let's say, has guys saying "I can hit it that far" when they forget that that is not the ladies max, it's the average.

Not saying you but there are some very insecure men out there.

If that’s what I meant to say I would’ve said that but that is true for some men

I'm secure enough to say I'd hit it further than most women on the LPGA tour but they all would kick my a** at the end of the day!
