Titleist TS hybrids, U500 & U510 utility irons

@pugsnotdrugs did you previously play a driving iron or hybrid? I don’t have any shops where I live to test out much equipment, being a lefty makes it even harder. Initially was thinking U500 all the way.

Thinking of a u510 with tensei white 100x. Mainly looking for a off the tee club to hit low or runners up to the green

Just went to my local shop and they had the demos. Went in thinking TS2 when though I’ve had success with the 818H2. Did not like the TS2 with any of the shaft offerings, a little too big for my taste and I thought the TS3 offset would bother me but it was not bad at all. TS3 21* A1 setting (draw CG setting) with the HZRDUS Smoke Black 80g 6.0 shaft was the best combo for my 210-220 club. Put one on order, the shop couldn’t tell me if I’d be receiving it before the in store date of 8/30 but hoping since I pre ordered it it will. It’s kicking my 818H2 out of the bag. Much better sound and seems to be a lot easier to hit.

Glad to see Titleist with some really good no upcharge graphite shafts in the utility irons. Evenflow Black and Tensei to name a few.

Surefit is the same but the CG cartridge is different. The CG cartridge in the TS3 driver

Titleist just updated their site today. The evenflow white 90/100g will show under their custom options for Hybrid/Utility.

I’ve been playing my dads old Mizuno MP cut muscle hifli 3 iron 21* and it’s been my favorite club. The u510 felt way different but I was making the same solid contact and it was similar at address. I had no problem hitting it off the tee or off the deck. I’d say Schedule a Titleist Thursday! They are free and super easy and the fitter will get you dialed in!

Heard the Tensei white 100 they use is watered down, torque rating in the catalog not even the same as MRC website.

IMO still a good shaft though. Even though it doesn't have the high end materials of the Driver and Fairway wood Pro model shafts.

I agree it’s decent, but I just don’t understand a EOM as big as titleist pushing a CK PRO and in reality not giving that to you, considering the real deal hybrid shaft is t even 3 bills like the driver shaft. Same goes for there tour green and stuff that is “made for” but not really advertised as such. Just a principle thing I guess lol. That said the TS3 does have my attention!

I didnt test out the U500 or the U510 but the guy in the fitting bay next to me was hitting the EvenFlow White 100 6.0 shaft if that helps. They both sounded really good at contact and he was hitting low bullets with them.

Love the driving irons , nice and thick and chunky at address . I’m tired of every release of new products the OEM’s trying to make stuff look smaller at address with thinner top line. A 2 iron or a 3 iron needs to look like a shovel. Save the blade sized heads for your 5-PW. The new TM driving iron you can barely see the head and it’s a 790 size. Heck make it a 1100.

I am looking at the Ts2 17 degree that I can crank down a couple degrees as an option to fill my 3 wood spot. I have been struggling for a couple years to find a 3 wood I like. If I can get the TS2 17 down to 15.5 or 16, I think that would be about perfect for off the tee and from the fairway. As long as I can keep it from going hard left.

Yes, HZRDUS Smoke is a very good shaft in these hybrids. Didnt like the White in the TS2 but liked it in the TS3. The EF White was just a tad too heavy for me in the hybrids. If I was going the stock route i would go Smoke just because it gave a really nice penetrating ball flight and didnt need to feel I needed to work to make the club go. My Driver SS is 100-105mph for reference and swinging the 6.0 versions.

I got to demo the U510 2i yesterday. That might be the easist 2i I ever hit off the deck. The SMOKE shaft was pretty decent, not sure I "loved it". No way I could hit the U500 2i, for my game the 4i version is where I could see it in the bag.

I’ve never owned anything Titleist outside of vokeys, but the TS hybrids really really have my attention.

Titleist updated their custom options book with the new clubs and shafts. Atmos tour spec hybrids are still no upcharge for TS hybrids and also for U500 and 510.

 

On a side note, some of their custom upcharge makes sense to me and some doesn't at all... Like TX flex HZRDUS Smoke is an upcharge (reasonable) but so are all flexes and weights of Aldila Tour Blue while all Tour Green weights and flexes are no upcharge (¯\_(ツ)_/¯). They also used to upcharge steel shafts like DG and KBS tour in hybrids but I'm glad to see that ended.

Has anyone ordered it yet and where did you get it from? I’m probably going to preorder this week the U510 4 iron with the GD DI. My 4 hybrid has been the weakest part of my game lately. Had the 818 H1 and now have the epic flash hybrid and just can’t seem to fix this part of my game. Also, has anyone hit the U series with the GD DI shaft?

Just received shipping notification that my TS3 hybrid will be here tomorrow. Ordered on 08/08 and live in Southern California. So you guys will probably be getting your clubs prior to release date of the 08/30
