actually when there were rumblings TW might not play (he shouldnt have), Price was laying it on thick about how he had a "responsibility for his country" lol. Like every time some money grab gets created in the spirit "patriotism" these guys are supposed to drop everything and play in it.

Cap'n America wins under the watchful eye of Lady Liberty. It's a sign: Pair up Reed with Spieth.

Watch them dominate and set the earth back on a peaceful rotation. Amen. Amen.

Golf's a funny game. One one hand it seems like Spieth is really close to playing really well again. On the other, it seems like he's not far away from full on driver yips a la Ian Baker-Finch.

> Starting to get a better feel for the course now that it's 2md time seeing it (I don't watch president's cup). Starting to like it more. It's only a stretch that feels too narrowly tucked together. Not putting it on same caliber as Augusta, but it's a good course, even by tour standards. And the views are jaw dropping.....that tee show they just showed of Reed with Manhattan in the background even made his little pudge look graceful. Lol

Good. Now you'll be all set when the FedEx returns to NY in 2021 as Northern Trust will be @Liberty again.

I guess you should wait for final numbers before trolling:

"Austin Karp reports that the 2019 Northern Trust was up to a 2.0 final round rating on CBS in spite of fan not-favorite Patrick Reed, compared to 2018’s 1.6"

Trolling LOL... but you ought to know!

Facts below:

Final round coverage of The Northern Trust, the first event in the PGA Tour FedEx Cup playoffs, averaged a 1.7 rating and 2.54 million viewers on CBS Sunday afternoon — down 11% in ratings and 7% in viewership from last year (1.9, 2.75M) and down 19% in both measures from 2017 (2.1, 3.14M). Prior to this year, the tournament took place later in August.

The 1.7 rating is tied as the lowest for final round coverage of the tournament since 2005 (1.3). That excludes 2011, when the round was canceled due to Hurricane Irene.

Third round coverage on Saturday had a 1.4 (flat) and 1.97 million (-4%), marking the lowest rated and least-watched third round since 2016 (1.3, 1.83M). Lead-in coverage on Golf Channel had a 0.50 (-14%) and 707,000 (-16%) on Saturday and a 0.46 (-30%) and 678,000 (-29%) on Sunday.

> > I think there's no real driving range at Bayonne, nor sure how pros would deal with that

> The piece of land Bayonne is on is much smaller than Liberty's. Maybe 2/3 the size? So besides from not having a full range there's also nowhere to put all the hospitality tents. Onsite parking is a fraction of Liberty's, and there isn't a neighboring state park for overflow like at Liberty. And the dunes between holes at Bayonne are much steeper than at Liberty--spectators would struggle with them, even if you could figure out how to get 10s of thousands of them onto the property. Liberty was definitely built for hosting modern tournament golf, and Bayonne for sure wasn't.

Liberty isn't close to perfect either. All most all parking for tournaments is remote including the TNT @LNGC. Parking in "The Pit" is/was highly restricted to players, PGA (staff/officials) and LNGC staff. Everyone else parked remotely or were dropped off @remote sites not including Liberty SP. Only some smaller lots and smaller groups were able to park in Liberty SP. Fyi, when it rained parking became a mudfest as vehicles spun wheels to move around.

Volunteers have often had a 40min ride from parking to the entrance in previous editions. Parking has frequently been in shadows of Bayonne. Public parking is @a mall and is timewise a sizeable ride.

USGA Opens and PGA Championships are run a bit differently. A third party runs the event for them. They are professional event planners and organizers.

If you thought Bayonne dunes are steep try 2018 US Open @Shinnecock before or after the wind & rain esp. friday. They brought in electric scooters on Monday to get people up them between fairways.

Unfortunately the steepness stopped them regularly, others always pitched in and usually 3-4 helped push person in scooter up the mound. It was definitely an adventure & surprised didn't see more people fall. EMS jic was stationed @top of the hill.

At other events, when dunes are too steep, public is either limited to "no access" or only staying on top of them. This was done for LPGA Sybase @Hamilton Farms for many years. Even staying in top wasn't easy as the tournament occurred during the rainy season in NJ. Mud was a frequent issue.

When a course infrastructure is small the surrounding area is always used as was done in Merion for 2012 Open. How depends on what contracts can be negotiated and arraigned. Most old style courses don't have extra space for a tournament so ruling bodies are used to using outside resources when the need is there.

>

> That 20 minutes from range to first tee would be a drag for pros. Wonder how close they can find suitable range near Bayonne? When I look on Google maps theres a huge shopping mall complex than can be used for parking, and like most things shuttle bus service from there to different points on the course.

> Bayonne Golf Club

> Lastly the hills would enhance spectator viewing like stadium golf, and large walk areas between holes would be natural for concession areas. To me sounds like if they wanted to they could pull it off there.

>

Most of same setup @Liberty can be used for a Bayonne tournament.

When any tournament is short on infrastructure you do what works @other courses do when they host a tournament allow your neighbors and nj-ny MET regional golf clubs join in hosting. This trains your club staff and upgrades their abilities which in turn helps the loaning club. Usually other clubs do course maintenance for 1or2 neighboring holes. No 1 club is able to do the entire maintenance themselves.

When neighbors are close by another course and other sites are used for infrastructure. Plainfield West is used for shuttle loading/drop off when the Barclays was @Plainfield CC. Plainfield West got almost all requested upgrades and deferred maintenance done by closing for the Barclays. Bethpage Yellow had many holes destroyed for 2019 PGA Championship. Many years of deferred maintenance, other wishbook requests granted and course is better than ever.

Liberty National GC outside infrastructure can be reused. The course could use the same driving range and short game practice area. The drive to Bayonne from the 10th hole is 5min.

Certainly looks good putting after switching on Sunday @TNT at LNGC.

He was using an arm braced mid-length putter instead of almost anchored full length putter.

He has always been lauded by fellow pros for a great technical swing and mechanics.
