WOOT...First hole in one ever....

Wow....playing in my weekly skins group yesterday morning. Keep in mind, I'm a 19.1 index, and while I have come close a few times in 30+ years of golfing, I've never actually hit one. Shot an 83, which for me is quite good. Had a good round going, 44 on the front, and on the back, had pars on the first 3 holes, then a double bogey, then a triple bogey, then a single bogey, then par, then.....the 17th hole. 144 yard par 3 with a BIG willow tree guarding the left side of the green, and trap short left, on the right is all trees and a creek that runs along the right side of the hole. Pin is front center, maybe 12 feet from the front edge. I wish I could say I made a great pass, but I actually hit a soft 8 iron and pulled it slightly. It's headed at the willow tree and I remember thinking, okay, just drop underneath, and I can get up and down for par. Well, it hits the willow tree, kicks right..and I'm watching it cook across the green thinking, oh s***...that's going off the green on the right....it hits the flagstick and drops in....Hole in one. Actually hit better shots at 16 and nailed a 7 iron from 165 on 18 to 3 feet for par. Yes...the bar bill was expensive...but worth every dime.

Well done! Nice to have it during a round that you were playing good on even though it was not your best shot. I say there is enough bad luck in golf you have to take the good when it happens. Unfortunately I have not been lucky enough to get an ace yet.

The ironic part was I missed on the correct side. So my miss was correct. Without the tree, I would have been over that sandtrap and in the fringe on the far left of the green. You cannot miss this hole right. It's death on the right side. Maybe I was being rewarded by the golfing gods for missing on the correct side? I don't know.

I’m so happy for you as that’s gotta be an incredible feeling!!

 

Been Playin for 52+ years, with enough memories for a couple of lifetimes and though I’ve hit two pins on the fly, two more on one bounce and I actually had a 207yd 4i enter the front of the cup on the fly and between the bottom of the pin and the pin itself, it bounced up and out, leaving me an 8-9” birdie putt, lol.

 

I’d give a lot of those memories back for just one hole in one, hahaha?

 

Don’t you guys have the insurance pool set up to cover the bar tab with you gettin what’s left, if anything?

 

If not, you should set it up at the beginning of the season!

 

If there is one and you just didn’t pony up, then shame on you, lol?
