Last night the website had $3000 listed, but today it’s $2800. So it’s actually $350 per iron for steel, $375 for graphite.

I think it’s $1400 for 4-AW. $175 per iron. I’m basing this on the way the old clubs are listed on the website. I asked on the Taylormade chat for clarification and they had no clue.

> >

> > Inverted Cone Technology (ICT) is TaylorMade's face construction technology that they added to metal woods in the early 2000s. It allows for them to preserve ball speed as you get farther from the face, thus enlarging the sweet spot. Basically, they're controlling the amount of thickness on the backside of the face to manipulate ball speed across the face. It's been on many irons in the past and you can see it on the backside of the r7 line. it looks like a little donut.

> >

> > On the new P790, they modified ICT to match the new iron. This donut was made a little shallower to distribute more evenly and then they shifted it to the toe side a little because of how the irons are made. The net result is a club that should perform more similar across the face, whether they're toe or heel side mis-hits.

Maybe they did, not sure. I was just pointing out that TM has used ICT for years and it's been tweaked this year for the new P790.

TaylorMade seems to have nailed this release. New epic irons seemed to offer little to justify the price tag beyond the brag appeal, but TM actually doing something super different and the tech story has me actually intrigued. Might be the first time I feel the premium iron price is justified since they started filling our irons with screws.

So am I crazy or what? We now have PW that is 43.5*? I am assuming that this is much about distance, but what is to be done at the bottom end of the bag? The soon to be released TM 790 Ti’s are going to carry the ball 150 yards or some silliness? Also concerned about peak height. Someone enlighten me here. I get some are looking for distance, but wow, just go elsewhere?

The AW is at 49. Not sure what the issue is or why people get so worked up about lofts and numbers on clubs.

They have foam.

Wow...the reviewer is swinging his 7i at 101 mph and getting 205 yards . That's what happens with a hot face and super fast swing I guess.

Pointless reviews, has he ever said an iron or club sux? No because they are a retailer.

I'm definitely in the minority here regarding the strong lofts. I'm actually glad they are designing clubs like this because I'm a digger and a fairly low ball hitter. So, I can weaken the lofts 1.5-2 degrees and I get more bounce, higher launch, and a bit less offset as well. I did this with my AP3 set and the numbers and ball flight were great. If I didn't absolutely hate the feel, they would probably still be in the bag today. I'm seriously thinking about giving the new 790 a shot. Will probably check out the T200 as well. Supposedly the feel is improved on those vs AP3.
