HIGH school golf ...give them your best tip/tips.

Should play? That depends on the kid. There certainly are those that don't, but most do. If playing in college is your goal, learning to be a good team mate and dealing with the up's and down's of team play is important. College coaches will ask if they don't play, why they aren't playing.

Not sure what to make out of those rankings. Are you saying they just aren't that good?

You can't go by scores. That course is tough and those teams are stacked. The best players in the country, for the most part, are playing high school golf.

Luke Clanton is the number 28 player in the nation and will be a sophomore.

Jude Kim is 380 and is a senior this year.

Leo Hererra is a senior and ranked 161.

All on the same team.

I am GenX.  If you really think I care about what you have to say, I don't.

Depends on the kid whether or not they "should" play high school golf. Unless something major happens it does not matter how high my son goes up from an individual standpoint, he will play high school golf because he loves being part of a team. It is just who he is. Some kids not so much. From a scholarship aspect it is going to have very little affect on a golfer's future. Golf is just like many other sports that are based around outside of school competition.

My son loves high school golf. The team and social aspect of it is great. As my son stopped playing soccer and baseball, a lot of social opportunities went away with them. It is great to get those back with the golf team. His coaches do a really great job. They take the kids out to eat after most away matches and the team goes to Myrtle Beach every spring. For me, its my favorite part of his golf experience. I like when other adults have to do the planning and organizing.

Play 3 hole matches against par. Your goal should be to shoot -1 every 3 holes. What this allows you to do is reset every three holes and start a new challenge. Too many times players think about score and end up blowing it overall.

Being from Oklahoma, our golf team won State three years in a row. The football team didn’t win a game in two years. But guess what sport got 4 pages in the yearbook and which got half a page next to the chess club? Lol.

Walter: Tell me Bobby, why do you play this game?
Bobby: I play because I love it.
Walter: Well I play for the money. I have to win. That is why every time we face each other I will always beat you.
