Resale of putters like Betti & Scotty

Does not having stock grip make these less valuable on resale? Have a mint Betti but just an old fashion Golf Pride pistol grip on it. Thinking of selling as I don't really use the putter that much anymore. Not even sure if I'll be able to find the original grip but I see Betti grips online going for $20-25, which I thought might make the putter more desirable.

Keep the stock grip only if the said model is collectible. Otherwise, it won't matter much if it's in used condition, until maybe decades later.

So if it's a collectible putter, like the SC tour model.....I won't worry about it.

Same as remodeling a house before putting it on the market. Ask yourself, could the extra investment into the remodeling be justified/recovered from sale price ?

Having sold many Betti's and Cameron's in the past, I would say you should at least get your money back on a $20-$25 grip. There are people who have no interest in buying a putter of that value without the original brand grip on it. We are a little unique here at golfwrx because so many members here can do their own club work or know someone who can do it for them. But Joe Schmoe golfer might not know how to change a grip and will see a non-OEM grip as a big turn off.

I think this is one of the "less valuable" Betti's though. I'm thinking it might be reselling for the $250-275 range. Not that that's cheap but it's much less expensive than the real boutique ones I've seen out there.

If it's not a collectable it doesn't matter. Only on ones that are pretty much display pieces will people really care about the grip.

MC are not very desirable for some reason even though it is a wonderful putter . They are of earlier days, have lighter headweight and if I am not mistaken, not released for US market. I have an MC-8 I picked a while ago for a lot less than what you are thinking. It doesn't command good price other than a couple particular models with copper alloy inlays so I wouldn't bother with finding original grip. That same Joe Schmoe wouldn't take a second look at it anyway.

Yeah at 33'' it was swing weight'ing around D2. I don't really use it much because of the mega light head weight but honestly... I traded one of my Xenon's for it, valued that trade around $250-$260 each, so, I probably "overpaid" for it. I'll probably lengthen it and maybe slap some lead on it, maybe it can become my back up or something.

You're right though, weird it's valued so low, I've used it once or twice on course and did enjoy the look and feel.

Unless it's one of those models with copper inlays, I'd say you might have overpaid a little.

My MC-8 at 34" was pretty solid and was in fact my primary putters for quite some time until I started messing with heavier headweights. I ended up slapping lead tape on the sole and tip weigh in the shaft, and it still felt light. I don't recall what the swing weight was but it is still sitting there in the one of the spare bag...
