Portland / Vancouver Must Plays?

We are there 9th-12th. (Fri-Mon) I guess they tried to get on Langdon Farms. I guess someone logged in at like 5:30am MT (4:30 Portland) to book it, which is two weeks out and it was full??

 

_Edit: We have 8 playing so they were probably not able to find back to back times at Langdon._

More likely there is a corporate event that day.

I’ll look in the morning but we are averaging 8 tournaments a week right now.

I played Gearhart a couple weeks ago while I was home visiting family. It was in great shape and we had amazing weather for the Oregon coast (upper 70’s). 18 is a beast!

I also played Great Blue & my buddy got me on Riverside.

Tried to get on to Langdon a couple times and it was completely booked....too bad, I love that course.

So we played this weekend at Pumpkin / Reserve (south).

 

Pumpkin we had no idea the event was going on so caught it us off guard when get got there LOL. Overall we were that not impressed with Pumpkin. Its an nice facility but the course from a design aspect was just "okay". Its a good track but not sure all the hype matches. Granted we only played 12-13 holes as the rain came and canceled us out. Conditions were good but everyone in our group would look to play something different they said. Maybe the last 6-7 holes would of made it better???

 

Reserve, nice place and the conditions were great. Fairly open course, or easy off the tee for the most part was the groups thoughts. Greens rolled great. Interesting a few double greens. They only had the black tees available so there was some shorter par 4's which made it fun for options. Overall everyone liked the course and thought it was really good. I would probably play it again if in the area, but if I lived there would look at check out other courses before putting it into the "rota".

Played Pumpkin Ridge (Ghost Creek) yesterday for the first time in a couple of years. I know there is plenty of disagreement with me on this board, but I really love that course. There's no "wow" hole, but there are also no weak links in my opinion. Just good, solid golf. It is in pristine condition right now as well and we played in 3.5 hours.

We might play Langdon Farms on our way to Bandon in late April.

Question: what is the likely condition of the course at that time? I know the PNW gets a lot of rain so are we looking at soggy fairways and greens or is the drainage able to cope?

All depends on how much rain has fallen over the preceding four days or so. Langdon is arguably the best draining course in the northern Willamette Valley. Even if it has a couple days to recover from a week of downpours, it will be wet, but playable.

You may want to check with mallrat. I'm sure he has their aerification window...

 

I'd be less worried about rain and more worried about punching.

As of now we are planning on punching the 1st week of March. April the course should be plenty dry. There might be some rain but by that point I wouldn’t be worried about the course being wet.

Want to give some credit where credit is due,

I had a heat stroke at Langdon first time I played and didn't get to play the whole track.

Made my way back and have since played twice, and the work you and your crew do is top notch. Langdon is my favorite course in the greater Portland area, above both The Reserve and Pumpkin Ridge. Fairways like carpet, it's unreal.
