Love the play, but if I hear a TV commentator say "nice shot, 'there' " one more time, I'm going to puke.

 

Why do they feel the need to say "there" or "here" so often?

 

I like Brad Faxon, but he must have said "there" at least 100 times today on the coverage.

I like the Augenstein kid, very well spoken in his post round interview, like his setup and swing. But my sweet Lord, he is slow. They are all slow, but he did a full Bryson on a putt, then hit it in such a way that would make me blush. Trolio kept his cool while being consistently outdriven, occasionally 40-50 yards, very impressive. When I was 17, I had learned to double clutch a 1958 truck, so I had that going ....

Pretty wild that no "top" amateurs advanced even to the round of 8. Pinehurst has really been the star here as the great equalizer!

I haven’t seen a lot of this, but judging from the front 9 on Saturday, Number 2 seems to be too much course for these guys. They don’t have the shots.

Andy Ogletree will try to become the third Georgia Tech player to win the US Amateur. The others are Matt Kuchar and Bobby Jones.

 

Cohen Trolio did very well for someone that turned 17 a little over a week ago. He still has two more years of high school. This was his first full national amateur event and for a player not even ranked as a top 100 junior to win it would have been crazy.

Pretty crazy, kid has not taken high school physics yet but almost won the US am. Hopefully to see more of him in the following years.

.....Augenstein just hit 9-iron for his second shot on a 525 yard par4....unbelievable!!

John Augenstein was hoping to play well this week to get the attention of those selecting the Walker Cup team.

 

A win tomorrow and he doesn't have to worry any more.

 

As mentioned earlier, both Augenstein and Ogletree have earned a trip to the 2020 Masters, provided they are still amateurs.

Number 2 seems almost impossible. Golf is not inherently fair, but there have been a lot of good shots that wound up in horrible places.

it is absolutely not impossible ... don't hit it in the wrong place and it won't roll off the green ... there should be more courses like #2 ...

I like playing a difficult course now and then, but yikes, this is brutal. Those greens really are like billiard tables.

fought back to 2 down, then lost a hole, but won 18 with a birdie putt to make it 2 down after 18 ... both playing very well ...

Easy choice.

* The Am features newer, less known (and thereby more interesting to me) faces in golf.

* The Am is on a much better golf course.

* Match play is so thrilling because we see so little of it.

* Notwithstanding the clear demerits of Fox commentators (bad, and not getting any better), Fox does some really great things technically with a golf telecast. Including but not limited to player/caddy discussions.

* We can watch the Tour telecast on replay on Golf Channel tonight, right?

* The Am is a National Championship. A major, as far as I am concerned.
