Well, that buyer didn't want to shop around (even if that required scrolling down a page), he just wanted it at that very moment. It's all part of the deal.

OK, I thought you were talking about people who couldn't get them at all through regular channels. There's always going to be people that get stuff early through reps or whatnot, I don't lose much sleep over that. They have the right friends and/or they have spent more money over the years than I ever would.

Exactly, and in most cases those rare folks not going to risk their account/connection to flip something early to make an extra $100

This is the case with nearly every material good in the world. Complaining about people who have made relationships and connections in the industry (and probably spent a few bucks in the process) is about as salty as it gets. There is plenty of great Cameron stuff available to regular joes. Pay your Club Cameron membership and you can have a great chance at most any release throughout the year, and you can sell the gear that comes with the membership to make it nearly free to join.

The T22s were about as accessible as you can get for a “limited” item, and releasing them through titleist accounts and retailers gave everyone a chance. Did some of those retailers botch that to some degree? It seems like it, but that’s not on SC.

No privilege at all. As soon as I saw they were announced I simply called my local retailer and got on a list. You waited too long.

Took me forever to get a couple bottles of Van Winkle. And yes, markup was ridiculous. I doubt they were anywhere close to other bottles.

This is kind of where I live on this one too. While I have no issue with people profiting from buying a limited release and then charging a markup, it always feels like we need a section of the BST for that sort of thing. None of these folks bought these for "personal use", they bought them to flip on the BST/Ebay/etc.

We need a "flipper's forum".

Everyone deserves a Panda Daytona at retail or lower! It's a crime against humanity that I can't find one.

I do have a bottle of yama 18 that I scored for $299 though!

I almost spent that on a dram in a secret backroom bar in LA about 2 months after it was first released. Guy ordered the last shot they had about 15 minutes before me thankfully, boy would I have regretted that in the morning....

The new submariners are a guaranteed $6-$8K immediate profit if you can get one at retail right now. Got put on a 18 month (!!!!) wait list for a sub after selling my hulk and batman.

Some consistency from the board would be nice. I get it can be annoying in theory, but have no problem with flipping but allowing some but not all seems weak. Unless mods really believe dudes excuses for the stuff and are buying size 8 Jordans "for a friend" and they didnt fit lol.....

I think a BST partition for those kinds of items would be a good/interesting idea. That way complain all you want, but if you are going in there and buying stuff, you at least know youre paying extra for something.

While I don’t disagree, riddle me this:

Do you want it moved to another section of its own specifically because it clogs the BST forum?

OR

Do you want it moved because if you wanted some hot item and the only way to get it is to pay a premium on the secondary market, it would bother you that someone is profiting from your purchase?

Genuinely just curious and not trying to incite any arguments.

Neither. This topic of "profiting" comes up at least a few times a year and the site outlaws some forms of it but only certain ones (Ross shoe dumps etc), I just thought having a separate entrance for those specific items was a interesting idea, and could keep it consistent and all up and up with basically, alerting those who are offended by it, and acknowledge the fact you are likely paying a premium over retail.

I dont really care either way, if people want to invest their time to hawking stores and buying them all up good for you. Its only slightly annoying to me, when people doing so dont call it what it is.

I think the issue with that is those sales/product cycles happen year in ad year out. Giving a secondary forum for flippers only further entices them. The original BST was meant for person to person sales, not profiteers. This T22 release was honestly pretty rare given it was large enough for lots of folks to get their hands on them and try to flip.

I am anxiously awaiting these to hit the BST. Pappy doesn’t distribute to NC

Personally I think flipping , if you choose to, ought to be done exclusively on eBay and here be the place where golfers unload their excess and unused golf inventory, and have a little more of a mindset of comradery when they are considering how much is “too much” when marking up flippable items.

But, I am also firmly of the mind that grown ups can do whatever they would like with their money, so long as it’s not hurting anyone (or against the law, etc.). I’m not the thought police, nor am I anyone’s parent. If something is within the allowable items here, it should be allowed to be sold for whatever amount the buyer and seller agree upon. Regardless of how much it cost the seller or where they bought or obtained it from (obviously fakes or stolen items, etc. are a no go). It seems to be very arbitrary now what is allowed, and what is not, which has already been said here. Like the Marshall shoes situation - selling shoes is fine, selling Nikes is fine, but if it is suspected that those Nikes were bought at Marshall’s, well forget about it - strictly verboten. I’m really not even sure what liability GolfWRX is shielding themselves from with that. I can’t imagine those situations occur frequently enough that the initial clamor would really be noticeable after a short period in almost all cases.

Its a free site on the internet, where about 99% are strangers to one another....not sure how much camaraderie you want.

The Marshall shoe thing Id love to hear an explanation on, given that dudes were maybe making like 20 bucks or so max off flipping them. I have no clue what the issue was with those.....

I may still have the PMs from the site owners, they said it wasn’t “profitable” to allow the Ross/Burlington flipping or have a section or thread where swapping, buying etc could be done. I’ve fought that fight a couple different times with mods and the owners. I don’t understand the issue between that flipping or the other blatant flipping with other items, I’m ok with all of it. Buy it or don’t and move on!

After reading and digesting the comments plus speaking to a local shop owner I will admit when I'm wrong. If guys are desperate or stupid enough to pay $1000+ for the putter, then it really isn't the seller's fault. I have been watching Ebay and have seen them go for as high as $1,250. That's unreal to me. I wish Scotty would be true to his release dates. That is on him and his staff. But, the aftermarket madness is on the idiots who choose to over spend. How's that for a 180 degree turn?

The idiot comment might be a bit strong. As has been pointed out it might be worth the extra money to avoid the madness. And some just have it like that.

I wouldn’t pay $600 for a putter nevermind the aftermarket premium. But I’m sure I spend money on things - like beer - where Miller Lite drinkers might think I’m nuts. To each his (or her) own.

Anybody know how many putters were produced? Super disappointed. I guess I won’t be able to get one at $599 for my birthday coming up. I was hoping this would be mass produced to some degree. I can’t even order it two degrees upright!! If anyone knows how many were produced, please let me know!! I am furious over here. And, I own a buttonback and several other nice Scotty’s (all non circle T). I was going to game this bad boy for a decade or more. Sad days for people who wanted a putter like their first Scotty they got when they were 11 ( still have it )

Nobody to blame here. Classic moves by all!!

Rant over. Maybe I’ll post something next decade.
