Why so little M5 talk?

I get near identical numbers when comparing the m5 and m3 head to my 2016 m1, no point in spending the money or working through a change in feel for something that doesn't improve what I already have. The only people that I'm guessing are going to the M5 are guys who want the latest, or guys who have a much older driver where something new does offer an improvement. I have yet to come across anybody playing one in my rounds this year as well.

I honestly tried the M5 and F9 head to head and it was a no brainer (for me!) that the F9 was better. But that's all personal. I have seen more M6 than M5 around, too.

I've got the m5 in the bag and am happy thus far. I feel like there's very little hype or talk on much of anything right now, at least not like in years past. I had the F9 earlier this year and they were very comparable, but I felt more comfortable with the m5. I had the m3 440 last year but it felt rock hard to me, feel on the m5 is much better, forgiveness is great and the spin under control, not verified by machines though. Haven't hit a lot of bombs with it, but at the same time I'm not playing as much so I'm probably not swinging as well as normal. But it's staying in the fairway more than years past and even brought my dependable draw back into play a little, not that it's draw biased or anything, and that's paying big dividends to me.

I have gone from m the M2 to the G400, back to the M2 and from there to the Mizuno 190ST and now the M5. The M2 was in the bag longer than any driver has been and it still measures up IMO. The Mizuno was the best feeling drive I ever played on both miss hits and flushed. It also had the distance to go up against anything else I have ever hit. My problem was I started missing it in both directions and my HC was suffering. I had read the M5 was hard to turnover so I wanted to give it a try to take out some of my left misses.

I first tried the M5 with the stock Tensei orange stiff. It was OK for me, but it felt a little loose just like the Tensei blue I had in the Mizuno. I then stuck in a Fujikura Motore Speeder VC Tour Spec cut one inch shorter than stock. Spin, flight, and dispersion all look very good.

I have just recently become a TM fanboy....just because I am hitting all of it better than I have hit any combo since returning to golf. The M5 has played itself into my bag. Feel is muted (I like it), sound is muted (I like it), and the distance is out there with the best.

M5 is easily the best driver I've used. It's a fairway finding bomber. You definitely have to put some time in to fine-tune the settings, but it will pay off. The head is super stable at impact, the feel is just awesome and I don't think any other driver looks as good behind the ball as the M5, perfect shape to my eye.

I was hitting the Epic SZ since it came out and I picked up significant distance and much more accuracy with the M5 by being able to more finely tune the launch and spin. Nothing is more adjustable. I also struggled with the Epic Flash SZ, I hated the sound and no real option to fine-tune the spin.

Getting the best results with Evenflow White T1100 65x but I also have HZRDUS T1100 65x and Tour AD IZ 7x (being delivered this week). I have the head set at 8.25* and all shafts are at 45", so I have some lead tape on the head to bring it back up to the standard swingweight. I hit the EF White and T1100 pretty high but they're both super low spin so I'm a little nervous to try the AD IZ as it may go even higher, but in the LM I was hitting some insane drives in terms of distance with the AD IZ 6x at the PGA Tour SS. So grabbing the 7x version and maybe setting the loft down just a bit could be the ticket, but either way, M5 is already a lock in the bag, no question. Only fooling around with other shafts to see if perfect can be improved upon!

I personally have a!says played a Taylormade driver since the Firesole. The M5 was a big disappointment for me. I tried 3 different heads and all sorts of shafts and the weights all over and I just never had a good driving day. Switched back to my old m1 and drove it great again until it cracked. Swinging at the store a few weeks ago and saw a G400 lst in the used rack and have been swinging it awesome ever since. It's a great looking and feeling driver but wasn't for me.

Loving my G400 MAX. It kicked the 2017 M1 to the curb which imo is just as good as the M5. The G400 Max is a fairway finder and every bit as long.
