Is golf your most expensive hobby?

Depends on how you look at the cost of a hobby. German cars are another hobby of mine, and they are not cheap. Mine start at 80k and go to 125k. My buddy has 21 show cars. Another buddy has show horses and shows cars, and another friend has four planes and a hanger with a condo in it...

Shoes are my other hobby... but running out of room has cooled that spending... so it's probably golf

Without a doubt, it is the most expensive hobby I’ve ever had. I was a goalie playing competitive ice hockey growing up and this is still way more expensive!

This is my third season playing and I went fully into the deep end. For the first 18 months I hit balls at least 3 days a week and I still play every weekend. If I had to estimate, I’d say in less than 3 years I’ve spent $1,500 on clubs, $5k on range time (living in Manhattan makes it even more $$), $800 on lessons (probably should have spent more here, less on other areas!) and at least $10k on rounds of golf.

All that said, I did just break into a single digit handicap this weekend so it hasn’t totally been in vain!

> Is golf your most expensive hobby? Im really curious to see what guys have to say about this. For me it certainly is my favorite hobby. I work in the business and enjoy what I do very much. I spend my fair share still on greens fees, new shafts, grips and the likes. I also know guys that play every weekend and only use golf balls they find and haven’t bought a single new club in 10 years. They’d rather spend their money on their shoes, boats, watches, cars, guitars etc.

It is now, drag racing and trapshooting were much more expensive.

Yup, after dropping 40k on a sim for my basement the wife says I spend more on golf than on her!

I buy guitars and basses, so no golf is not my most expensive vice. I also don’t buy major OEM clubs, so my gear is much less expensive.

Golf is definitely one of my more expensive hobbies. I also enjoy guns and shooting, which can be very expensive depending on what firearm you have and what ammo you have to buy. I also love drinking bourbon, which I have been keeping it cheap but if I see a certain bottle "Blantons" I have to get it.
