T1100 Smoke/Hulk is here....

Recommended Posts

Alright WRXers, a little update here, it’s been about 2 months and I had all but completely given up on this shaft. My misses were all over the place, it was feeling a bit whippy in the hands for me, something just felt off. I ended up tipping the shaft I purchased from JD an inch, and took down total length after install to 44” and it has made all the difference. I haven’t seen this type of ball flight or spin numbers since the SLDR with an Black Tie 80M X, but the distance this thing is producing is incredible. The fun part is it feels like I can now swing as hard as I want and the ball flight doesn’t waver much at all. This thing is just producing some bombs. Great shaft after getting it dialed in to what was needed!

> Where are you guys getting this shaft is soft ? I am honestly intrigued. I have a 70tx tipped 1” and one tipped 1.25”. The 1” tipped shaft measured at 295 cpm with a grip on and in a 5” clamp. The 1.25” was 301 cpm the same 205 gram clubhead. Which isn’t light. Both builds at 45.25” My 80tx in my 218 gram fairway is 308 cpm @ 43”. These shafts are stiff as they come. It’s just great material makeup making these feel smooth.

concur with this info...they're smooth but they certainly are NOT soft

Some advice please I am looking at this shaft for my ts3 driver I have the smoke black 6.5 playing at 45 1/2 as stock from Titleist and couldn’t get on with it as it just felt so soft and loose changed to my OBAN Kiyoshi white 65 05 at 45 playing length and its better but launch and spin are to high swing speed is around 114-115 with I’m told a very aggressive transition or violent as some have described it with this in mind would the 60g 6.5tx be suitable and would tipping be advised.

I don't know that I ever thought it was soft....if I used that word, poor choice on my part. It just did not feel overly board (in the X or TX flex). Very playable (as in not harsh or soft). Fair point, though, it's not SOFT so much as it feels good which, until recently, was rare for a low/low shaft.

Hey guys, I’ve had my Hulk 60g TX in my epic flash for a couple weeks now and I am comfortable enough with it to give my opinion on it. My old shaft was an Evenflow black 65g X. With the Hulk, I seem to get a slightly higher ballflight the the EF. It’s not bad, it’s a very penetrating ballflight. I’m more confident in my driver now then I ever have been. At first I was a little worried about getting the TX model, but I am happy I did. I’ll be on trackman this Sunday so I’ll be able to give more info on spin and swing speed then. But for any guys on the fence about this shaft, I’d definitely pick one up and give it a shot. Plus it’s probably the best looking shaft I’ve ever seen!!!

I tested The 6.5 against my Ventus. I got very similar spin numbers, slightly higher ball speeds with the hulk, but a little worse dispersion. I wonder if I tried the TX if it would be a better fit. I liked the way it felt though. Way better than the smoke black.

Took this out to the range for the first time yesterday.

Had about a 10-15mph wind blowing in at me. Normally my set up is a Veylix Mansion in a 9.5* M2. The 60g Hulk has some crazy penetrating ball flight. I was pleased with the dispersion but I really had to step on it and manipulate the face to get desired results. Carrying 260-270 which isn't great for me I wouldn't probably bag it if I was playing into the wind and bring my TM wrench along so I didn't have to manually manipulate the club face. Great shaft, but I don't know if I will keep it. I have about 4 rounds coming up over the next week so we will see.

one or another to a lesser degree -- i think the fuji is more counter than the hulk. (could be wrong, i don't have the specs infront of me)

i have a decent amount of lead tape on the driver - but i haven't changed it, just the shafts.

I didn't think the Hulk is counter-balanced. Doesn't feel like it to me.

You may be right, I just remember reading or hearing that somewhere. It may be because the OG haz T1100 was/is counter balanced.

It absolutely feels counterbalanced to me. When I swap out my Hulk with a tip heavy shaft (same head), the swing weight appears to increase quite a bit.

I think it is in this video the True temper guy confirms it is counter balanced.

I also remember reading -- can't remember where -- that it was not counterbalanced. I've never gotten along with counterbalanced shafts, including the T1100, but have been absolutely loving the Hulk for the past 3 months. I've never hit my driver better than I am with the Hulk.

Same here. Have the same set up and just love it. I have played Pro Orange and its not nearly as counter balanced if at all. Best shaft I have had in a while. I may even add loft to get it a touch higher , right now I’m just hitting straight bullets with it that just cut through the wind.

I would be very surprised if it was counterbalanced. I wasn't able to get along with the Pro Orange or the Aldila Rogue White. My dispersion just seemed all over the place. Either way, distance and dispersion with the Hulk is the most consistent it has ever been. I am usually very active in hunting the newest shafts, but I won't be doing so anymore with he success I've had with the Hulk.
