Honestly they’re completely different.

Totally different headshape, not crown line, open faced, higher spinning, etc. etc.

The only thing they have in common is they use the same adapter.

Retail Sub Zero is lower launch and spin- about a degree and 300 RPMs.

That is almost exactly right. That is a big reason why the triple works really well for me. I need a bit higher launch and spin. It stabilized my flight a ton.

I like the straight face and the trianglish look of the TD over the rounded shape of the retail SZ. I also like how it’s not super low spin. I think it really comes down to preference. Between the non-SZ, retail SZ and TD, Callaway can fit a lot of players (and for those that want even more fine tuning you have the 2D and 1D).

If these weren’t updated yearly I’d go get a 2 diamond lefty but it’s not really worth it with 12 month product cycles. One on eBay is tempting though

Unbelievable driver! Head shape is ideal and it’s a low spin bomber. 20’ lower flight (good for me) than my M3 and a little hotter. Love the straight(ish) top line. Only concern is that it was 4g heavier (197.8) than the spec sticker which I thought was odd because it was a new tour issue (spec’d at 194). I love lighter drivers so that’s too bad. Most solid feeling driver I’ve hit though!

What do you mean yearly? Current product is Rogue and Epic Flash. Two different audiences targeted with each. Neither is a replacement for the other. EF replaces the previous Epic driver.

That's awesome! Glad to hear you like it too! Do you know how much your epic flash double diamond weighs by chance? Did you mess with the weights at all?

Nearly all of cally staff switched from Rogue to Epic. I suppose it’s their M6 version while the Epic is like the M5, doesn’t really seem all that necessary though.

I had my 9* turned down to 7 with a flatter green dot adapter and it was going left for me, even with the weight in fade setting. Just think someone about it with my swing did not jive. Put it back to 9* and straightened out a bit and started to fade easier. Obviously not the clubs fault, but it isn't anti-left for everyone.

Ya it should be around a true 6* loft because its 8.0 (actual) before adjustments. It still spins...Right around 2100 but I would take less. I'm not a pro - I don't buy the 2600 stuff...I'd prefer to gain every yard I can. The rough isn't too bad where I play :) It is definitely open too but that look suits my eye. I really like it!

I just got a solid deal on a double diamond head. Compared to the triple diamond, it is shorter front to back and the back end of the crown is a lot lower. The weight track is also shifted toward the fade side. The double definitely has a lower forward COG. Face depth is about the same, and neither are too deep. Both heads look great and sit open, with +1 on the adapter effectively making it sit neutral. I'm going to try out a set up with two slider weights and as little as possible forward in the triple diamond to turn it into a max MOI set up, while setting up the double with as heavy of a forward weight as possible. One for distance, one for forgiveness.

Intriguing. Do you have any test data to show where the improvement is coming from?

So what are your impressions on the basic differences between triple and double, aside from shape?

Haven't hit the double yet. I play a shorter (43.5") driver set up, so I had to order extra weights. Once they arrive, I'll put it together, add some hot melt, and let everyone know.

I can verify for sure that the triple diamond is extremely fade biased. If you strike the heel with an open face, expect to slice it even with the weight set to draw and the adapter at d/+2. It is pretty forgiving overall, but my swing fault tendency is to pull and get steep, so I have to be careful to stay off the heel side. On slight mishits, it maintains ball speed very well. Extremely loud head, even with hot melt, and it gets louder the more off center you hit. Kind of good for auditory feedback. It's the first driver that I can say that I've struggled to hook off the planet.

> 30 yards improvement, not a chance. I'm guessing you worked for taylormade 17 yards distance improvement and now work at Callaway. I've hit all with same shaft, love the single diamond, and DD is possibly slightly better at most.. depends on swing of the day

Both measured shots on the range or course have shown that much improvement. I agree with you that DD is better than Single Dimond. Clearly DD is not a head for everyone, but when dialed in, DD has produced the distance gain over Epic SZ as previously posted. The opportunty to test equipment as an employee would be nice, but your guess is incorrect.
