How do you grip your putter

I know that current instruction is to grip the putter in your lifeline of your left and right hand. I’ve tried this on and off for several years without any success. My hands feel less secure with lots of gaps with this grip vs. gripping in my fingers with thumbs down shaft. But the latter doesn’t get my forearms as in line with putter shaft angle. To make matters more complex, from Faxon to Woods and Crenshaw, they all gripped more in the fingers. Would appreciate views on this forum. Particularly if you’ve transitioned to lifeline effectively. Thanks,

In the fingers on the left hand ( right handed ), claw grip with right hand. Superstroke 3.0 grip counter-weighted with 50 gram weight.

For 40 years putted with it in the lifeline, last year switched to more in the fingers, at the same time switched to left hand low. With the putter in the lifeline, I held the putter very upright, and for a standard lie angle putter, the heel was off the ground, like Steve Stricker. But, I played for many years with an upright bullsyeye putter. To complicate matters a bit more, about a week ago went away from the double overlap grip I have been using for the same 40 years, (think interlock, then move the hands one knuckle closer together), now a standard one finger of the left hand overlap, I think it works better for me with LHL....

Years ago I loved the feel of the putter in the lifeline, felt like I didn't twist the head as much, not sure why it stopped feeling as good, might be from switching putters all the time...... ;^)
