Blueprint Vs. Miura BB

Recommended Posts

I am curious to know if anyone who has gamed the BBs has tried/switched to the Blueprint. Ping loyalists have pitched the same forgiveness theory of: smaller head + same amount of material = more mass throughout the club face. I personally love the BBs and do not find them all that difficult to hit.

I've noticed that I've had more success in blades with mid/higher bounce. problem is they are hard to find.

the Blueprint specs make me think its the perfect successor to the BBs.

I haven’t decided on the blueprints yet, I did test them awhile back and they made enough of an impression to make me want to try them again.

Hopefully they will be there for a big demo day I have in a week or two

Well, looking at the comparison, I'd say the blueprints should be more forgiving as the hosel is much shorter, therefore putting more mass outwards, and they look like they have loads more bounce than the BB's. Ingredients like that help a golfer out.

I agree on the weight distribution. The bounce on the Blueprint is similar to the i210, I'd love to see how such a compact head with that much bounce interacts with the turf. It also looks like the COG could be a bit lower and more centered in the Blueprint, but tough to know for sure. Hopefully someone can comment on ball flight

I think your mileage will depend a fair bit on the type of ball striker you are - not how good you are, but whether you are steep on your iron shots or more of a picker. Course conditions will also matter, but we can’t do much about those, so setting them aside for a moment, the higher bounce BPs should favor a more downward strike on the ball.

Agree, when I struggle its because I get too steep, more bounce would help in those situations for sure. I am not digging at all really with the BBs, I really like their interaction w/ the ground, the smaller head and a bit more bounce suit me a lot better than some of my prior Mizuno sets. I live in NY so turf conditions vary by season.

I hit the Blueprint along side an FG 59 which is just as compact as the BB and Ping. They are nice clubs, slightly easier to hit than FG. The trajectory, distance and dispersion were about equal. They have decent forged feel at impact and look great behind ball. The ability of Ping to adjust weighting via port and also heel side via hosel along with lie and shaft choices make them quite appealing. The cost is a bit high end though. Otherwise they've done good here.

I had the BB and FG59 at the same time and hit them against the demo Blueprint. I personally preferred the Blueprint to the Miuras but still love my FG59's!

Would be tempted to pick up a set of Blueprints but at the moment can not justify the hefty price tag

Yeah agree. The 59's work just fine and have an edge on feel, imo. The pricing of Ping's make the BB a bargain to boot.

Sorry for the delay here, will post some pics tonight. I went with the 105X as opposed to the 120s in the BPs, which is the same shaft I have in my MP25s. I like both shafts in different ways, I get a little bit more spin with the 105x without losing distance, and can launch them higher/flatter. I also feel like I can swing smoother and not give up too much

Here is the recap after spending 2 full days at the grass range just trying to dial in yardages and get comfortable hitting different shots:

My Distances were near identical with both the BB and BP, the BPs felt a bit more 'spinnier' (which likely was a combo of fresh grooves/finish/shaft - but I liked it) . I found that I could really step on the Pings and launch them higher, which was nice (especially in the long irons).

Turf interaction: Definitely different, the Pings have more bounce and you can feel it through the ground. The leading edge is not as square, but is just as smooth through the grass. This was one of the things I was most excited about. I've played lower bounce CBs/MBs for years and although the BBs have a bit more bounce than say Mizuno's, they still have a very square leading edge.

I enjoyed the feel and sound. I have never gamed Pings, so its not something I am necessarily used to, but i liked it. They feel so solid out of the center. As for forgiveness, they're very similar. you are splitting hairs, but I'd say the Ping is bit more stable out of the toe.

Overall they are great. they will go right in the bag for next weekends rounds. will continue to provide feedback here
