I can see some appeal to bending one to 58* or so, depending on how you feel about offset in wedges. I really don't mind a little offset in wedges, makes them look a little more natural when they're rolled open IMO. And I like the sole design on the bigfoot, but would rather have a little less bounce, so bending it strong would work for me, though of course YMMV.

Not directed at TM because I love the look of these MG2, but new wedge prices are out of control. For something that ideally would be replaced yearly, a set of 3 is incredibly cost-prohibitive at 'new release' prices - 3 of the MG2 are nearing the cost of a set of irons. I've resigned myself to using past generations and installing my preferred shaft wedge to wedge as needed or finding "newer" wedges on closeout or lightly used.

Hey TM. The GolfWrx Podcast with the TM guy (forgot his name) made it seem that the Bigfoot was designed for high handicap people when he said it was for people that really didn’t know how to play bunker shots.

Is this true? This wedge truly designed for people that don’t know how to chip, pitch, and bunker play properly?

I wouldn’t be that harsh. I would say if you are already a good wedge player this would help you take the next step. It would also certainly help beginners because of the bounce, sole width and extended grooves. I’m a 19 and I’m pondering a 60* to go head to head with my current Hi-Toe.

Yeah, exactly. Companies have been marketing wide-sole, high-bounce wedges as making bunker play easier for higher handicaps since the 60s. Doesn't mean there's anything inherent in the design that would prevent them from being used by low handicappers.

I have played with a lot of different players over the years. It's been my experience that the majority of golfers don't know how to "chip, pitch, and bunker play properly"

They offer it in 58 and 60 degree lofts. Maybe bend one to 56?

No but plan to on release date. From the reviews online at first I thought it was pretty gimmicky but I like the concept of it and why not get more help

So true. I'm a 1 hdcp and I would put myself in that camp, with emphasis in chip and pitch categories.

He may have just used a hydrogen peroxide/vinegar/salt method.but I wish he would have said. I'd like to rust them asap like that.

Maybe Vinegar and hydrogen peroxide concoction could do it but seems quick to get it that rusty

With the vinegar/peroxide solution you could get it rusted to that point probably in 10-15 minutes I'd guess. Mine are coming in Tuesday so I will be the group guinea pig haha.

I'll do a little mini write up on the process and time it took rust to take over.

> So 150-200 more spin on a 10,500 spining wedge does not seem that significant. 1.5% is not worth dealing with what I feel is an ugly look. And if you hit the club 5 or 6 time in a round the rust is off the hitting area by then. JMHO

What Rick tested, rust vs raw, isn't really all that interesting, but raw vs plated is the reason raw wedges matter. When you get water between the ball and the face, you lose more spin with a plated finish than you do with a raw face. The MG2 wedges are intended to give you the spin preservation benefits of a raw face without a fully rusty look.

I personally like the look of full raw wedges, so these will take a bit of getting used to for me visually, but my MG raw 52 is already in the process of being replaced by an MG2 52.
