Mizuno MP-20 vs Titleist MB 620

redhead

Recommended Posts

Only hit the Titleist but for me Titleist wins on looks but Mizuno as usual wins on feel (educated guess as MP20 not out yet)

If only Titleist felt soft they would have me for life!

(And for reference I have a set of 718 MB’s)

Mizuno are softer then the titleist for sure. But I don’t get the whole “Mizuno butter” thing myself. I have played Mp5, mp4 and the mp18 blades and my Callaway Apex mb are way softer then any of those

Wait to hit the mp20 mb if you want to play an entire set of mbs. Mizuno has a history of making great long irons. The 620 mb is **slightly** better looking and better feeling than the 718 mb, but I'll give the the nod to the 718 mb 4 iron over the 620 mb 4 iron which was the only long iron I hit in my fitting, and I own the 718 mbs. Titleist may have gone to sleep designing the 620 mb long irons figuring these sets will be blended, and rightfully so because the t100 4 iron was incredible.

If you don't like Mizuno mirror finish gently rub the irons with extra fine steel wool and it will change the club to satin. Just rub horizontal in straight lines so you don't make swirls.

I actually think the older generation Callaway MB blades were softer. I think we are arguing about quality control when we luck out on a set being softer than expected versus another brand. It’s like finding a unicorn in the wild...

I thought the new 620 MB was softer than previous generations. Titleist has thinner top lines. Mizuno is nice but on the chunkier side especially when you get to the PW. 620 MB/CB is now just a timeless looking club. Agree with the feel of Mizuno however. The grain flow forging process they have locked up pretty good. Haven't seen in hand the new MP20 but vids make them look nice. Agree on the glare. Gaming MP 18 now and will say the club has gotten pretty banged up. Dents and bruises. Softer metal? Will be testing both head to head this week to make final determination. Which club, 620MB or MP20 (or MP18 if you have) is more forgiving overall?

The Callaway X protos where probably the softest iron I ever hit until I hit the MP 20 MB.

Haven't hit them, but on appearance, the Titleist wins it for me. The logo side of the blade looks slightly better than the MP-20, but they're both awesome. But I really prefer the Titleist at address, from top to bottom, but especially in the low irons.

The only thing I don't like about the 620s is the stamping "47" on the toe of the PW. Pointless clutter and breaks up the symmetry of the set. How many golfers playing 620s don't know the loft of their pitching wedge?

I tried both and prefer the performance of MP20 vs 620 MB. Went into the store thinking I will be getting Mizuno MP20 HMB/MMC/MB combo but ended up with Titleist T100 with Project X 6.0.

I hit both recently, when i hit sweet spot, they both felt the same, then i hit the toe, the Mizuno felt a little better. The Mizuno looked a tad bit longer, so I have a preference for the look of the 620.

I did a fitting last week where I thought I'd go with a MP20 combo set (HMB/MB) but decided to go full HMB.

Did a fitting (mainly to figure out shaft for my current irons) last week and ended up in the MP20 MB with $Taper 130X. I now have a set of those shafts to put in my current irons but I'm wondering how people are getting on with their MP20 MBs so far. I hit them GREAT on monitor - so soft and the dispersion with that shaft was ridiculous. I love the Titleist turf interaction with the relieved leading edge. Loved my MP5 as well. How are the MP20 comparing to other blades you've played?

Interesting. I love Pings as well. I found the MP20 to be ridiculously forgiving for a blade though. The Blueprint price makes it a bit of a reach... I could buy two sets of MP20 basically haha

Picking up a set of MP20 with $Taper 130X tomorrow to try out for a steal. You've got to love finding the clubs you were fitted for with like one range session on them. How are people like the HMB 4 iron? I may order one

I'm with you, I have two sets of Mizzys: 33s and 32s plus a set of Callaway Proto MBs and those are softer than the Mizzys, and it's not even close. I'm a Mizuno fan (my 1st set of clubs was the Tzoid Pro) but the Mizuno "feel" is kind of a myth.
