Cut Golf balls

MRL1984

Dual Core Blue launched today. On one hand, I want to give it a shot. On the other, even the press photo they use of the ball itself shows some serious marks/cuts. I'm not sure I want to use something that looks messy on the company's own website.

It says Out of Stock when I just went there. Got the email 2 hrs ago and sold out already? Did they have 5 sleeves for sale?

They would only allow you two sleeves. I think I clicked through the promo email about an hour after it dropped and was able to order them. They did say "until supplies last", so I guess either demand was high or supplies were low, and as you found they sold out w/in hours. I'm interested to see if they're more durable and a little less clicky than the OG ball and will report back.

Just have my doubts about some of the comments folks make in these threads. Would not be surprised if they were Titleist employees.

Just FYI the equipment manufactures have a gag order on employees for social media and forums. The marketing and PR folks are the only ones that can comment, and they usually do so with fake accounts. Like when you see an Ebay auction for some one of a kind *tour club it's usually directly from the manufacture under a different account. Regular employees would not risk their jobs talking on here.

Now about ball durability, I put a pounding on almost every ball with my wedges so I tend to believe durability issues. Full wedges which is what I usually have into most par 4s just cut hurt the covers especially if its a little sandy on the ball in the fairway. Sometimes I'll have a ball last a whole round, sometimes they won't last 4 holes. Same ball different dozen box, so many variables. What I will say is that scuffing the skin a little bit doesn't affect the balls performance like people think, it's just a visual and mental annoyance.

I got to hit the cut blue a guy gave me and it was similar in durability to every other ball I hit.

Bad press came in over the past two days from a large reviewer of golf products. I must say, I have been noticing my new 2019 Cut Blue balls to be getting cut up/scuffed really easily with my wedges and irons since putting them into play over the last two weeks (my 2018 supply ran dry).. Thought it was the sleeve or two that I've played with, now I'm worried it's more of a quality control issue with the new 2019s.

I found the 2019 Cut Blue durability to be similar to the old Strata Tour Ultimate +. That cover just peeled away on wedge shots. Did they release the new Dual Core Cut Blue because of this issue?

Any comments on quality issues?

Took the dc blue out over the weekend. It’s better than the regular blue but I still preferred my tp5x. The dual core did seem to go longer but something about the feel of these is odd like the ball is super dense and heavy. I know it’s not the case but even my buddy who I gave a sleeve of the blue and he dual core to said the same and how he prefers his Kirkland better (he has a closest full of them)

I played the Cut Blue DC over the weekend. Feel and behavior was about right; no complaints there. The cover feels kinda grippy in your hands and it spins quite a bit if you hit it right. Durability, like the previous ones, isn't quite up there with premium balls. Here are some pics of one after 18 holes.

As you can see, it pretty readily picks up significant scoring from my wedges and general scuffing. I kept playing with it for another 13 holes or so and it was getting pretty ratty. I would include pics but... well, you know. :'(

At least the name is appropriate. Picture of a cut-up "Cut" ball worth a thousand words, right there.

Bought a dozen of these Blue to try. Not worth it even at the price point. Brand new ball, hit an 8 iron into the green, check the ball and it's already chewed up. Durability seems to be an issue with these....

Funny thing is, I’ve done that to ProV1s, TP5s, NIKE tour plats and black, Srixons, vice, chromesoft, snells...

It’s not that hard to do but, I’ll say that Snell has the best durability of all of them (current Black model).

These are great balls for the price.
