I picked up a few different weights from Billy Bob’s and played around with different combos. Settled on 10 gram in front, 10 gram in back. Combo of 8 gram in front and 12 gram in back was a very close second.

The ones that suit my eye are the Cobra F9, which is very easy off turf with the rails, and the Titleist TS2, which is fantastic off the tee and probably better for both. Of the Callaways, I prefer last year’s 3 wood, the Rogue SZ, over this year’s Epic Flash. Like the sound and look more with the Rogue SZ head.

ST190 fairway has to be the best all-around, if not a serious contender and dark horse in this category. Ballspeed, versatility off deck/tee, sound/feel and good looks are all ticked off. The Atmos Black is a great stock shaft, though I went with my GD Quattrotech for familiarity. I can't believe that it replaced my Epic SZ and outperformed the TS and TM offerings.

I play the flash with the weight in the back. I think it spins more and I get a slightly higher ball flight which I like in my 3 wood as I want to hit a specific distance. I honestly think sometimes the flash is too long and it’s right on the heels of my driver but I just hit it so we’ll I don’t want to change.

These comments are making my decisions hard! Have an Epic Sub Zero 3+ that I love. Back in February, was impulsive in the classifieds and picked up a Epic Flash Sub Zero 3+ head but haven't matched the shaft. Curious to test how the Flash compares to the original Epic.

I've got the 3 wood, it's long and easy enough to elevate, I like the looks as well. but it has this weird tendency to go dead left on occasion. I had the Heavenwood in my bag for a few rounds as well, couldn't hit it straight at all. I'm seriously considering going to the Ping G410, very easy to control where the ball ends up with this club, even if it's a few yards shorter. (I have the G410 7 wood and it is the straightest fw wood I have ever hit. )

Ping G400 Testing G410.  10.5 set at small -
Ping G410 3, 5 and 7 wood

Ping G410 5 hybrid-not much use.
Mizuno JPX 921 Hot Metal. 5-G

**Titleist TS3**. Perfect look, shape, feel and distance, with lots of adjustability. I also tested and liked the Callaway Epic Flash and SZ and the Cobra F9 Tour (almost went with the Cobra tours). Did not like Taylor M5 o M6 (actually really hated them), and while I loved the look of the new Mizunos, I just couldn't find a groove with them. I also tried the Ping 410 fairways and did not care for them. Titleist was the clear winner for me, and if I had to pick a #2 it would have been the Epic SZ.

TS3 similar to the TS2 as far as feel? Love the feel of the TS2 indoors but being a high spin guy I’m not sure how it would work on the course. I feel the TS3 would likely fit me better but I have only been able to demo the TS2 (lefty problems)

Feel was the same. TS2 launches higher. I'm a high-spin player so I went with TS3. I also prefer its more rounded shape and the CG adjustability.

Solid advice here.

And if you do pull a WRX and replace one that works, make sure not to sell it. Do not ever sell it.

TS2 has been great for me and I am a high speed player. Tried the TS3 and also loved it but i prefer the footprint of the TS2. No spin issues with either, and TS2 as has been said before is slightly higher launching for me so its a little better off the ground and a little worse off the tee but its so close that it didnt matter to me.

Also, was really surprised by the sound at impact the first time I hit it and still am occasionally. Its a solid "thwack" that sounds like old school 3 woods which is awesome and quite different than the 915F that I had before it.

I've actually bought a club off the bay, played it, then put it back up on the bay and the original person I bought it from bought it back!
