Bali hai...Is walking from Luxor an option

There is sidewalk all along that part of the Strip. The driveway to Bali Hai is right on the strip on the same side of the road as those two hotels. I think Russell Road is the only major road you would have to cross, the rest are just driveways. I'd allow maybe 20-25 minutes to walk it from Luxor, a few less from Mandalay Bay, plus however long it takes to get from your hotel room out the front exit of the hotel.

Cool thanks, I might consider that

Bruddah. In that heat, you won’t even make it to Russell Rd. without wanting to curse heaven and hell. Take Uber or a taxi from the Luxor. It’ll be $5ish, maybe even less. Are you so cheap you can afford to play a $$$ course but you you wanna walk to save $? Good grief Charlie Brown. You prob order a cup of water at all the restaurants you go to right? I know I’m giving you a hard time but jeez.

And what about after your round, you’re all tired and sweaty and you gonna walk back to the Luxor?

Haha, your right. I'm doing this vacation for my 40th birthday in January. I'm coming from Michigan and staying 2 nights. I'm planning it now and bringing my son. The golf is gonna be $209 pp for Bali Hai, and the plane with hotel comes to around $475 pp. I also wouldn't mind playing Topgolf and possibly Reflection Bay. Only reason I was considering staying at Luxor is because it seems so close to the course. I was asking because taking a taxi 1 mile seemed lazy and embarrassing. Still trying to figure out if I rent a car or do the Uber/Lyft/taxi thing for everything else.

Two things-

1. Use an Uber. They are everywhere and I've never had to wait more than a couple of minutes.

2. Find another hotel. There are many nicer ones in the area.

Agree wit this completely. Luxor is terrible and it’ll take far less time to take an Uber. Forget the heat, I don’t even think that’s a big deal.

You drive to get everywhere in Las Vegas and it's hot. The city is a lot more spread out than it seems. You'll pay more for a cocktail after the round than the Uber fare. Kinda laughable that you also mention you want to play Top Golf and Reflection bay (which are expensive) and don't want to pay for an Uber.

::me thinking out loud::

It's walk-able, but a PITA.

Once, I was staying at Planet Hollywood, my buddy was at NYNY, we were headed south on the strip on the way back from golf, so I just said drop me off across the street from my hotel. I swear it took me 20 sweaty minutes lugging my clubs and shoes, to get to the lobby, bad idea.

Uber's in Vegas are absolutely the way to go, you'll wait less than 5 minutes.

I stayed at the Luxor exactly 1 time. Probably the worst layout of any hotel on the planet.

$209 for Bali Hai? I'd stay in the Uber another 12 minutes and go play the [Legacy](https://www.thelegacygc.com/index.htm "Legacy").

I said I'm going in January, unless online temperatures are wrong that says the average high is in the 50s and 60s, so I doubt I would pass out before I hit Russell road. I also never said I was trying to save money and did not want to pay for an Uber. I just realized that it was about a mile away and didn't know if it was even allowed. I haven't been to Vegas in 10 years but when I was there I pretty much walked or use taxi. I plan on taking a taxi or renting a car for everything else but if I were to stay so close I was just wondering there was a way to the golf course. The only hotel casino I've ever stayed in was the flamingo and Rio, so yeah I didn't realize Luxor was so bad.

you will be fine if you want to walk in January. They occasionally get snow in jan so I doubt you will die from heat. Walking wouldn't be the worst but I will echo walking thru the shops and leaving from mandalay bay. Research courses and options as you might be able to find a better course or deal on bali hai. Most of the better courses are around 30 minutes from the strip though.

Luxor isn't considered one of the better hotels/ more so the opposite. If you want to get something in that area i would recommend looking at a few other. Luxor isn't even that cheap for what you get. I am seeing great deals in Jan on Vdara, The signature at MGM, planet hollywood is slightly better, Hilton grand vacations(elara).

Mandalay is a solid hotel and after the shooting deal they have had some better rates, but not amazing IMO. I highly reccomend Four seasons which is on the side of mandalay and occupies some of the top floors.

Get out of my head!! Thinking a lot of the same thing.

You can play A LOT NICER courses (including Uber cost) for $209 pp. Id also look at something other than Luxor...

Depending on what kind of shape you are in me and the wife walked from nyny to well past Bali hai in 110 degree heat a couple weeks ago. We are also idiots and love the desert so take that into account. It’s definitely not a walk I’d recommend before a round but you could count it as a warm up I guess. Not sure what your plan is for other golf courses but every Vegas thread I will recommend Paiute. I know reflection bay comes up in a lot of threads but when I went on a golf trip to Vegas in May we played reflection after doing 36 at Paiute the day before and it was absolutely a let down considering all the rave reviews here and elsewhere on the net. Also spend some time dialing distances in before your first round on the range. Coming from playing courses at or below sea level I was about a club or two long going into most greens for the first round and a half of the trip. Enjoy Vegas and if you have any questions about things to do there send me a pm I head there multiple times a year.

We walk a good bit from Casino to Casino or even from Aria to the LV sign. Its not that bad of a walk, but it would be a PITA with golf clubs walking through the hotels. I played Bear's Best a few weeks ago while I was out, and it was in GREAT shape (and I think I paid under $50). Its a straight trip down flamingo ($20ish Uber)

I’m playing Bali Hai on Monday (solo before a business event).

Can anyone describe the current conditions? I know that many LV area courses are currently overseesing. Bali Hai’s Website says they never overseed, but are they punching greens right now?
