Yealimi giving me multiple near heart-attacks with some of these predicaments and close shaves. She's saving it good so far, but still feel it'll be a relief to finish the round. Before anything falls apart.

 

Hannah really had a chance to at least tie a couple ago.

Real sorry for Yealimi though, hard to see her upset too. She had some amazing saves and putts there, was really earning it. The round just lasted a couple holes too many.

Gotta give to Hannah Green she was steady and patient all day and when Yealimi made couple mistakes at the end she capitalized. Yealimi played great this week she will be on tour soon, she just got a little tight coming home, she'll learn from it. So congrats to Hannah Green on picking up her 2nd win of the season.

Yeah, I think some situations are just too much pressure to really get anything done, and it's just an attempt to survive the day. Like I think Inky was in that situation on round 4 at ANA this year.

 

Yealimi was under that today. First win is bad enough alone, plus membership on the line. I think it was a race for her to escape the round before the huge pressure zapped her and caused too many problems, and her lead was used up. Almost made it.

 

She did make a lot of killer saves through the day though.

 

Hard to see her hurt at the end interview. She kept her composure and sportsmanship real well though. She's gonna be a trooper.

Well, if you had asked me at the start of the season if an Australian would be a multiple winner, I would have said, "Sure, Minjee has it in the bag." Quite the season by Hannah. As Paige noted, she was patient, and sank the putts when she needed to. Avoided any big mistakes, and hung in there.

 

Yealimi is going to be a member soon enough, but oh that hurt. Cruel game at times. She's obviously not the only player to let a win slip through her fingers. Hopefully she takes away a lot of positives from her play this week.

 

Nice week by Brittany. With the focus on the match play, she put herself in a good position to capitalize if the leaders stumbled.

Hannah really impressed me when I saw her at Woburn. Her ball striking is pure and her putting is underrated in my opinion.

Great win by Hannah! All those posters who hate bolters taking out majors can now relax. Hannah is the real deal.

I love seeing how a course evolves like that over the tournament. It reached some sort of scoring sweet spot on Day 2, before the greens became bouncy and treacherous. It made for great tournament golf.

Just like at Thornbury Creek i was super impressed by Yealimi Noh. I thought her pre-shot swing routine was partly responsible for her tightening up though. At Thornbury we only saw her ball-striking, but in Portland we got to see a bit of scrambling, and it was impressive.

Unfortunately, Brittany Altomare started leaving putts short, again. She's done it in another tournament this year where she had a chance to win. Can't remember which one off the top of my head, but it is becoming too familiar.

Some people have complained about the coverage. My gripe - MJ Hur was not shown playing a single shot in the coverage, to my knowledge. In the 3rd round she was outright 2nd for a bit, but they didn't even show her putting out on 18 (the token coverage they often do). In Round 4, not a mention, despite being 3rd for part of the day, and the most likely to challenge Green and Noh. Did she do something to p*** them off?

My philosophical musing: I guess it is better to be named Hannah Green than Raving Shanker. Colonel Bogie must have lived a difficult life.

Will be interesting to see how she continues to develop. I liked her interview; she still wants to improve but somewhat surprised at her own results this year. Also seemed happy to show people the KPMG wasn't a fluke. Still, it is odd when you look at her stats, as she looks very middle of the pack (some things slightly above), and no one would guess is she is one of the 2x winners on tour this year. Overall, I'm glad she won - mainly because there probably wasn't a lot of people pulling for her yesterday.

They say that 2nd place is the first loser. However, Yealimi should be proud that she outplayed Jin Young, Sung Hyun, Brooke, 6ix, Ariya, Nasa, Sei Young, etc. After a solid 6T at Thornberry, it's quite clear she has the game to compete on the tour.

We saw almost every Yealimi's shot over two days; she's probably not as good as Saturday but better than Sunday.

Her tee shots went AWOL on Sunday, she played by gut alone. Still, she did better than Rory on Sunday 2011 Masters.; she shot under par and salvaged a solo second.

Solo second is the best thing next to winning; she earned a six digit check and tens of Rolex points. In total, she's earned $201,411 in five starts; good for No. 70.

Big check is important; she's the sole bread earner in her family since her parents had closed their restaurant in Concord CA.

She's also moved to inside top 110 in world ranking and is only 150 points away from earning a 2020 Olympics berth.

I recall seeing MJ on Saturday. Very briefly, maybe 2 or 3 shots :(

No 6ix over the weekend that I recall.

I don't look at the score, but rather the result. She finished in the same position as Sung Hyun. That said, it's almost becoming a requirement on tour for the players to be able to go low given the number of birdie fests. Many of the grinders that play well on the tough courses can't seem to compete on the low scoring courses. Yealimi seems to have the length and short game to get into the mix.

I consider Thornberry and Portland very similar, basically all offenseive tracks. The difference between the two, is Portland only allows their greens to stay receptive for the first 2 days then on the weekend they get firm and fast and gives teeth to the golf course. Thornberry is all offense all the time and on the weekend in Portland you have to think about and execute your shots almost perfectly. Look at 11 in Portland Brooke, Hannah and Yealimi all missed the fairway all couldn't stop it on the green and all were basically dead expect Yealomi hit a perfect shot (although give another 10 shots and she might not be able to do it again lol). It is why I love this Portland course, for 2 days you can free wheel with out much danger but on the weekend bad shots really get punished.

Dottie Ardina finished 3 shots behind them along with 8 others at -20. Dottie has played 19 events this year, she has made 4 cuts. Thornberry being her best finish at T15, the others 47,62 and 55. Since Thornberry, she has missed 5 cuts in a row. Dottie wasn't so lucky in 2018, she missed the cut at the birdie-fest. Do you think she has the game to compete out there also, she was only 3 shots worse than Yealimi and the world #2 ?

 

In the end, Yealimi does appear to have what it takes to compete with the big dogs on a regular basis, Dottie on the other hand, well...probably not, clearly she had a really good week for once. My whole point being, Thornberry might not be the best place to compare players, or judge their skill set. ( Sorry to pick on Dottie, I don't mean to offend her or her fans )

I think it it's over for Female Athlete of the Year and the Lou Marsh. Brooke's problem is she didn't perform very well at the Majors (I blame her scheduling and not taking the Majors serious enough) and Bianca is 2 games away from winning one.
