My WITB - Cobra, Taylormade, Honma, Callaway, Cleveland & Odyssey

Recommended Posts

A bit about me: Low single digit handicap, use to be better but I don't get to practice or play as much as I would like. Driver swingspeed around 100mph (maybe up to 105mph if I really jump on one) but I can still get some good distance on the ball, 270-290 (maybe its the elevation, but I like to think its my impeccable ball striking ;) ). I would consider myself a club ho, especially when it comes to putters (I can post pics of all my back-ups in a few months or so), I am just looking for that magic club...and like most others, the search continues. So, without further ado...

Here is what is in my bag:

Driver: Cobra F9 10.5* tuned up to 11.5* w/ PX HZRDUS Smoke 60 6.0

Love this club, feels great and sounds great. I wasn't sure I'd be able to find a club that would kick the ol' 2016 M2 w/ an Oban Revenge in it out of the bag, but I don't see the F9 going anywhere soon. I have the loft way up and the heavy weight forward and hit nice high, low spinners.

Fairway Wood(s): Cobra F9 Tour 4/5 wood (17.5*) tuned down to 16* w/ PX HZRDUS Smoke 60 6.0

Just got this one, long story short the face on my old Exotics e8 tour 15.5* (was my favorite club) caved in and I was lucky enough to get the F9 for free. Feels great, but it doesn't quite launch it like the Exotics did. I'm thinking of getting a heavier shaft for it.

Honma TW 737 21*c (compact model) w/ Vizard Type Z 70s

I really like this club. I was looking for something to hit nice high bombs into long par 3's or for the 2nd shot on par 5's and this club checks all the boxes.

Irons: Callaway Epic Pro 4-PW w/ PX LZ 105 6.0

On their way...prior sets include Cobra Forged One Lengths w/ C-Taper Lite 115x(couldn't get used to them), Srixon 965 w/ Modus 130s, Srixon 765 w/ Modus 130s, Adams MB2 w/ Steelfiber 110x (still have these, they make a great back up set). I really like the feel off the face, nice an responsive with enough forgiveness. Love the graphite shafts, I can really feel the difference in the vibration dampening. My wrists, elbows and shoulders are thanking me.

Wedges: Cleveland RTX 4 Raw 50* (bent to 51*), 56* and 60* (bent to 61*) w/ KBS 610 125 S+

Sweet wedges and they are finally starting to properly rust! I read some complaints on the shafts, but I find them to be pretty smooth and not too stout and I can still spin the ball with ease.

Putter (at least the one I am gaming): Xenon (unsure of the model name)

I absolutely love this putter. It has the best feel off of the face of any putter that I have ever tried. I bought it from someone on here, removed the internal shaft weight and threw some lead tape on the bottom. It has a cool metal shaft band and a nice damascus insert on the back.

Grips: Pure Pro's on the wedges and Pure Standard on the putter (yes they are pink, but I will never loose a club!) and Iomic Sticky 2.3's on everything else.

Balls: Not too picky, but my favorites are Pro V1x, Srixon Z-Star XV and TP5x

Accessories: Mannkrafted single prong repair tool, half dollar ball marker, plastic tees, club brush, Bushnell rangefinder and U/A glove.

We have very similar games it sounds, minus your driver being 11.5*. If I set my driver to 11.5, my launch angle would be about 22*, not kidding...

Curious, when you game the 3 iron, do you just take out the 7 wood? I am in a pickle up top there. Im at 105 swing speed, 108 if I step on one, right around the 300 mark for driver, 260ish with my 3w but then like 205 with a 4 iron. That gap has ALWAYS been a pain for me...Always used hybrids and have ALWAYS hated them so I am trying a 5w now, but it goes about 230. 25 yards between 4 iron and 5w is still a lot and pops up often in the rounds I play.

I like golf. A lot.

@8overpar Thank you for that info on the Xenon!

@TomBomb51 I mainly use the 7w, it's an absolute rocket (goes about the same as my old r9 19* 5w) and I can hit a nice, high ball into greens. The 3i is nice off the tee, especially with firmer fairways. That being said, the 7w has probably become my favorite, go to, club so its spot in the bag is pretty safe. I love hybrids, but the 7w kicked out (somehow) my old go to, a 20* Adams Idea Pro, just a bit more versatile.

No problem. I’ve got a Mann divot tool in the mail today. Things are too cool.
