I heard that place is kinda nice. They have a very small membership I hear. I've heard some people just showing up and paying to play even though their open play is on Monday.

Brown’s is a nice track. Anytime I’ve been able to play it the conditions have been very good also.

You can use golfnow or their website to get on pretty much any day after 11 am. Played on labor day and today. No big deal might have to join there if they keep running membership specials

Yeah condition is in pretty good shape right now. Some of best in area from public and small clubs. Who knows could be nicer then big clubs idk

Great layout built in the absolutely worst place. Sorry to hear that it may be closing.

Yeah I think it's pretty reasonable for a membership there. It's just a bit far from me when Elks is much closer.> @luke1333 said:

I played Brown's today for the first time in a few years. Conditions, especially greens, were great. Greens were very quick and some of the best I played all year. My gut tells me they are hurting for members. They only had about 24 total carts for the whole place and it was mostly a ghost town both Sunday morning before I teed off and still was by mid afternoon. I hope they survive. I can't see both Wildwood and Brown's Run surviving alot longer in Middletown.

Yeah Brown's run is great! I'm a member at the elks but I may have to look at becoming a member out at Brown's. They did have a special for $200 a month, don't know if it's still going on though

A friend and I are heading down to play Virtues this Friday from Akron and are hoping to play a second 18 somewhere in the afternoon. We are looking at Eagle Sticks or Apple Valley. I've played Eagle Sticks twice before but its been about 15 years and I've heard the conditions aren't great right now? I've never played Apple Valley but hears its really good. Anyone have any thoughts?

Just spoke with someone that said Eagle Sticks is pretty beat up right now. Apple Valley is always immaculate.

Private course, but I got to play The Lakes Golf & Country Club in Westerville yesterday. Course was immaculate and really enjoyed the layout overall. Wide fairways, but plenty of trouble on-offer when going for Par 5's in two or taking driver off the tee on some Par 4's.

Heard a rumor this week that Champions is closing. That would be a shame - great layout though it needs some TLC. Though there was also an announcement earlier this year that a new clubhouse/banquet center was going to be built, so I guess time will tell.

That's too bad, I've played that course a couple of times over the years and enjoyed it.

Have no fear. Champions is closing for serious improvements. They are building a new clubhouse with banquet facilities and a new parking lot. The City apparently has lots of extra money to spend.

I wish they could find a way to make it drain better. It’s always so damn wet In the spring. With my bad hip I really can’t do cart path only....which it always is after even modest rain.

Thinking about doing a Dayton summer trip next year? Looking at staying at an airbnb in Dayton and playing 4-5 rounds on a combo of NCR North/South, and Moraine. Is this a good possibility? Our group has done French Lick Ross and Dye courses, Kampen/Ackerman in Lafayette, Indiana, and Arcadia Bluffs the last 3 years. Thanks for any advice!!

Do you know a member or otherwise have a way to get on at NCR and Moraine? If not, that may complicate your plans as they are both private country clubs.

Provided getting on the courses isn't an issue, NCR South and Moraine are top notch, particularly since Moraine finished their renovations a few years back. NCR North is a bit meh - I would argue for other courses in the area if you are putting together a trip.

I'm in the Dayton area so if you have any questions about courses/etc let me know.

> I am fairly certain we could get on both of those courses. Our other option at the moment is to head north to Forest Dunes in Michigan. Coming from Indianapolis, if we could do Dayton instead it cuts off 4 hours of drive time each way!!

If you wanted to complete the Dayton Major Championship-venue trifecta, you could try to get on at Miami Valley Golf Club as well, lol. Donald Ross design and hosted the 1957 PGA Championship.

If you're looking for any other nearby courses to add to the trip, I'd recommend Heatherwoode Golf Club in Springboro (about 15-20 minutes south of NCR/Moraine). Public course, always in the great shape, used to host some Korn Ferry Tour events (probably Nike Tour at the time, lol).

Huge thanks to the great guys out at Miles of Golf. They fit me for some new Mizuno MMC irons, Titleist driving 3 iron, and SM7 wedges. As much as I hate cold weather, I really want spring to now show up even sooner. Oh and this weekend they are having a huge sale and a dollar for dollar match on range cards if you use the driving range there.

Can't wait for the next Ohio WRX Outing. Have a happy Thanksgiving all, and Go Bucks!!!!

^hit them well!

For the 2nd time in 3 years, I post my best round at the very end of Nov/early Dec. Same course (Golf Club of Dublin). 75 this year. Played last week when it was nice and dry and cloudy and got close to 50'. Course was in good shape considering the weather ups and downs in Oct/Nov. That's probably it for the year unless we get some freakish weather soon.

Didn't get a chance to play the Virtues this season, but definitely going to next season. I want a rematch from my last round there...

Big shout out to the precision pro folks at the Cincinnati golf expo yesterday. They had a nice booth and were giving out really nice towels if you mentioned you owned one of their products. Nice to see a local golf company making an impact in the game.
