Hzrdus black or yellow

Anyone have input? I have both shafts ( yellow 6.0 in 65 and 75 gr, black 6.0 in 65 gr.)

My miss is a slice and typical shot is a slight fade. I hit high and with a lot of spin. Initially had the black but changed to yellow last year. Now tinkering some I hit the black better and was able to turn it over more easily at the past 2 range session. Could this be because of the light shaft or just user error and me wanting to like the black again?

I have the black in my 3 wood and hybrid that aren’t going anywhere.

really depends what driver youre playing. both are low launch/low spin but the yellow is counterbalanced. In theory with a heavier head weight the yellow should be the better shaft to play.... I love both as well, but ive found the yellow to draw more easily. Black definitely had a tendency to either fly straight or slightly fade more

A lot of info out there says the black and yellow have the same launch and spin characteristics but I did not find this to be true at all. Perhaps that's true when a machine is hitting.. anyway yellow is counterbalanced so if the head is the same it will feel lighter. I also found yellow to launch a tad higher and spin a lot more than black. Black is a very tip heavy shaft and kept the spin down for me the best. I did find the black to be a bit more boardy while the yellow had some kick to it.

Two VERY different shafts. The Black is pretty linear and is stout city with a very neutral balance point whereas the Yellow is counterbalanced with a massive dip in mid stiffness to create a much more pronounced loading sensation in transition. Apples and oranges completely. Go by feel and ignore everything else, especially launch and spin since launching high with high spin on a G400 LST at 8.5* is not going to be the shaft's fault.

Definately go by feel, I fit better in the yellow myself, both great shafts.

I didn't find the black to be too harsh/stout, but I tend to have a more distinct and aggressive transition. The yellow has more of a kick and it's not a linear load/unload like the black. I find the yellow to be less smooth because the handle is somewhat stiff, too.

 

As others say, yellow is CB, black is rather tip heavy. Two very different feeling shafts and if you fit one well, you will not like the other (most likely). I'd go with the black if you tend to struggle with a pull/hook kind of flight and/or prefer a more one piece feel. If your miss is more slicey/pushy and/or you like more of a quick kick, go with yellow... but don't forget to possibly add some head weight if you're keeping your shaft length the same.

I previously read about the black being harder to turn over but when testing things on 2 range sessions I noticed more distance with the black and more of a draw and distance (feeling that I could release the club) more than my yellow. I have 2 yellows, both 75 gr., one is standard length and the other plays to 44” butt trimmed, this makes me think I should try the 44” yellow against the black (which is 44.5”) Also my miss is a pull or a slice but most of the is OTT when I get lazy.

The Black really is quite boardy for me too, Ping G400 9 degree stock setting. But the results probably get it a pass for now despite the lack of feel. I've got a Fujikura Speeder 661 on the way to demo.

Yeah if anything I feel like because of the very low torque on the black and how stiff it is it'll keep your clubface from rotating open. Personally I've never experienced shafts that are too stiff/boardy as ones that are hard to draw, but that's just me
