Dufner's custom LAGP 125 gram long iron shaft - Sept 2019

Duf said there are 4 of these, he had all four but gave one to another player. He said these are the 1st graphite iron shafts that he was able to launch higher but keep the spin down, more in line with a steel shaft. He worked with LAGP over a phone call and they built these.

Is he only using these in long irons?

As of now yes, he said there are only 4 in existence.

He didn't say. He did say he'd have a new custom 3 wood shaft in a couple of weeks that I could shoot.

So I told Duf about you guys thinking he's a Golfwrx member. He said he does read posts but he does not have a membership and doesn't post.

Personally, the there's only one thing I am looking forward to with graphite iron shafts. Tips that don't bend. KBS, I'm looking at you...

 

Sure, graphite shafts aren't as hard on the joints. But I am not looking forward to reshafting sets of wedges and irons. Ugh, what a pain. And the price will never be as low as steel.

I’d be surprised if there weren’t at least 20-30 guys on tour who lurk at least occasionally. There’s so much info in these forums they’d be dumb not to at least look.

I'd say there's more than 20-30 but they aren't really looking for information. Most say they like to read some of the crazy $h!t that gets posted.

In reading the quote, the description of the goal of this shaft, it sounds a lot like what the characteristics of a KBS Tour S+ (balance point, 125g, softer tip, similar to S400, etc). Anyone have any insight on how they differ?

With only 4 in existence, I would think only LAGP would know enough about the shafts construction to answer your question. Just a pure guess, I doubt LAGP would say much about the shaft since it is a true prototype that is a one off for a specific player’s wants/needs.
